Everything was set for the big game. In the family room, there was plenty of place to sit around the flat-screen TV for those who wanted to watch the game. And for those who didn't care to watch, there were plenty of seating areas on the deck and the covered wrap-around porch. Chuck, surprisingly enough, showed up. He'd promised Sarah a date, after all. They were keeping up appearances, as always. Looked like everything was getting right back to normal with her here.

There was a very large part of him that wished this was more than just a cover date to her. That was nothing new, of course.

Still, that wouldn't stop him from enjoying being here as it was for now. He snagged a drink and a handful of snacks from the table, and tried to mingle, as best he could.

Chuck offered a grin in return. "I am," he told her. "This is your party, isn't it?" He only really knew this because she seemed to be running around organising. Way to know your host beforehand, Chuck.

Dani was too nervous to really eat. She was very pale until the Steelers scored their last touchdown.

Murdock had indeed spent much of the time in the kitchen, perfecting his chili and spicy wings. But he had each done by the time kick-off arrived.

"Chow down!" he announced.
