Lipstick Month Post #6: Maybelline Color Whisper lipsticks

Jul 08, 2013 15:25

Following the success of the Revlon Lip Butters (you know I'm a huge fan of Juice Papaya), Maybelline also released their own version in the form of the Maybelline Color Whisper lipsticks. And as expected, they were not released here in Manila. At least, not yet. So I did what every beauty addict does when we can't get our hands on the latest makeup releases, I looked for an online seller. My search led me to Bon Marche which is just the best place if you are looking for drugstore brands and products that you can't find here in Manila. So I found Color Whispers in the site, choose two colors, clicked the purchase button, paid via BDO and then two days later, these babies were on my desk:

I got Lust for Blush and Mocha Muse. As you can see from the photo, the packaging is true to the Maybelline Color Sensational line. It comes with a reddish see through cap with a cursive Color Whisper boldy written all over it. The product is in a silver tube that you can see through the cap. This is also much slimmer than other Maybelline lipsticks.

Lust for Blush was an easy choice for me as I haven't met a pink lipstick I didn't love. I'm all about the pink stuff. On the tube, it looks much darker but when applied on the lips, it gives a sheer blue-toned pink color. If I were to describe the color, I would say it's a sheer and hydrating version of Pink Nouveau from MAC. Unlike PN which is matte lipstick, this is glossy and doesn't dry my lips as long as I reapply it before it fades from my lips. It doesn't stay that long on the lips, just around two hours, but I've learned to accept that with lip products that are glossy. I don't mind reapplying this when needed and it lived in my makeup bag the first week that I got it.

The other color I got is Mocha Muse which is a color I do not usually go for. But I've read a lot of reviews and saw a lot of swatches of this that I started warming up to the color. It's a great MLBB lipstick which I'm kind of really into right now. I'm shocked that I use this much more that I use Lust for Blush. The consistency is the same as Lust and the longevity as well. I find myself reaching for this lipstick when I have to run errands and I don't want my lips bare. Hmmm, come to think if it, it has become sort of my lip balm which it certainly isn't. But it's close enough to being a tinted lip balm.

You can see how glossy and also sheer these lipsticks are on the swatch. Because of the consistency, you can apply a quick swipe for a sheer wash of color or apply more coats to build the color. But that kind of defeats the purpose. Haha I feel that the name is super perfect for the kind of color it gives. I want to hoard more colors, to be honest! More photos after the cut!
