We woke up at our Days Inn and got a southern breakfast at Cracker Barrel, then hit the road. It was an uneventful morning until we began seeing signs for the “2005 Southern Living Idea House”; we had to see what it was. This day was the most photogenic, including Monument Valley, site of countless westerns and generally an amazing place, and Antelope Canyon, a slot canyon and one of the most beautiful places on earth. Put Antelope Canyon on your “before I die” list.

[mapAfter cleaning out my apartment, and loosing sleep in the process, we left town at noon, listening to songs about California. We took the 10 to the 405 north to the 14 out of LA. Last weekend visited Yosemite along with amoken, audaibnjad, and ekoos. The visit was only for a day and half; I'll have to go back for more. I can't hope to do it justice in pictures or in words. For me it was as awe-inspiring-as mind-bogglingly huge-as the grand canyon, as beautiful as Ansel Adams makes it look, and as nauseatingly romantic as Albert Bierstadt ( Read more... )
