The Mormons of Cedar Hills

I'm glad you can agree with your stupid neighbor cities of Highland and Alpine. You and your county's 90% Mormon (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) brethren can be so happy... no beer will be sold in your little town on Sunday (or any businesses open). Yes... that's what's "Right" in the LORD's eyes after all, right ( Read more... )

I moved here to finish out my bachelors' degree. I'm now ready to go... go... go!

I feel like I can do whatever I want around here without people being as stupid or judgemental as I (and most Utah County outsiders) would expect. It's really only friends and family who take it upon themselves to do the "What you're doing is wrong" chiding. At least that's the way I've seen it. Maybe things would be different if I were gay, a regular drinker/smoker, or not pretending to be Mormon to get cheaper tuition....

Yeah, since BYU is a private LDS school, LDS students get cheaper tuition. It's just like in state/out of state tuition. There are Lutheran and Catholic schools that do it, too.

I was raised Mormon, and my parents said that I had the choice to say that I still am, or pay the tuition difference. It seems my integrity is worth about two thousand a semester.

Religion being used as a club to smash people over the head scares me.
