Dollhouse 1.01, 1.02

I like to try to give premiere episodes a little bit of a pass, since I know that usually the show runners are still working out kinks and the actors and writers are still getting a feel for the characters. But knowing that Dollhouse’s was already completely redone made me leery of allowing that much leeway. And yet, I wanted to watch it. I ( Read more... )

I found the second episode better than the first, but neither one was particularly striking to me as must see tv. I may or may not watch the third ep.

"The Most Dangerous Game" THANK YOU! I was trying to think of the title of that short story. I didn't get spoiled for the twist--hadn't seen the promos. But I saw it coming all the same.

(P.S. You may want to consider lj-cut for this because it's a long discussion of some really recent episodes. Not sure if there's spoilerphobes on your flist.)

Good call - added the cuts.

I don't know anything about the third episode but I'm also not going to rush to the TV for it. I've been catching them on Hulu when I get a chance and I don't see any immediacy increasing any time soon.

Wasn't that story the greatest? I think I read it in 7th grade English. Made quite an impression.

Yes, Hulu if when I think about it is my way too.

I think I read it in Seventh Grade English, and possibly Ninth grade too. It was quite a story.

That and The Lady or the Tiger are etched in my brain...hmm I must've had a violent turn of mind back then.

I don't think I know "The Lady or The Tiger". I read "The Lottery" around the same time, though, so I guess freaky short stories are standard for the curriculum that grade!

You are telling me that despite hiring Eliza Dushku, a woman so kick ass and hot that even gay men have crushes on her... They manage to frell it up?

She would turn gay men straight and straight women gay and...I'm totally fed up with her. I can't even stand to watch her Hulu ad at this point. (And I can watch Alec Baldwin's Hulu ad over and over and over and over and it never gets old.) It's ridiculous and sad. Who knows. Maybe you'll have a different reaction if it ever airs over there?

Oh good call on Andrew/Jonathon. So the tech is the Warren then? Ooh, hopefully that means he'll be flayed alive! HA!! I totally love comparing him to that genius brat from the Sontaran eps, too. Perfect. Except that dude eventually noticed how much he sucked and did something about it. I can't see that happening with this tool.

I actually watched ep 3 last night so...I guess you must mean that little nod that Echo gave Sierra at the very end? Hopefully that's a good sign. I liked that episode best of the three so far, also hopefully a good sign. Not sure if I'll get around to reviewing this week though. Maybe I'll wait for the fourth and then write them both up together.

It's not a good sign if the episode order is already being jacked around by Fox. I'm totally expecting both this and Terminator to get cancelled.
