The first thing that I thought when I was watching the interaction between Dean and Castiel is that; "Dude... Dean's totally getting owned." And in a very sexy way. And I'm so very happy in my pants as I was reading this because it's from Sam's point of view and it has new and shiny Ruby (though oddly I prefer the old, bitchier version of her) and holy, the whole God and the Devil's baseball game? Pure brilliance. I love the imagery.
This is lovely. Simply awesome.
Thanks for sharing this!! Definitely +memory♥!

I mean, don't get me wrong, it's AWESOME, and a concept I hadn't thought before, but ugh.
I am a Sam girl to the bones (which I feel is in itself a minority) and the idea that the one thing Sam can feel better than Dean at, in that he has some larger destiny, whether for good or evil, would also be taken away from him, jesus.
I don't think that boy can take any more heartache. I just don't.
If he were to find out he's gone through everything he has and for NOTHING, or at least nothing good, while dean gets some grand reason for being, I can't imagine how damaged he would be. I don't know if I could handle seeing that on the show. It would break my heart into thousands of tiny pieces. I almost cried thinking about this. Seriously.

He uses them to help people. He wants to use them to help Dean, and while he may not have appreciated Dean at times, that fucking street goes two ways.
Sam might not have seen Dean at times, and yeah, he may have been selfish (who hasn't?) but I think he left for Stanford because John and Dean weren't really seeing him, and maybe Sam was tired of hurting them because it wasn't in him to want what they wanted, or to "selflessly" suck it up like Dean did.
I like Sam more because he's more human, and I get tired of the implication that Sam coos over his powers like he thinks they make him better than Dean--because Sam's powers make him hate himself.
Honest review is honest: your Dean bias is really showing.

I don't think it matters who's chosen or manipulated by whom. Dean cares for Sam, and Sam cares for Dean, that's all there is and that's what matters. Both of them could be the respective second comings and all they'd do is save each other, that's what the Show is. I don't think Sam would even have heard Ruby's 'second choice' barbs, he's fixating on protecting Dean from the pain he's already been through. God, it just makes me want to hug Sam to pieces and bitchslap Ruby (she's got an agends, that one *gives her an evil glare*)
Love this fic, and all its implications. :D

I agree with what you said about Sam, all the powers and stuff come second to his thoughts about protecting Dean. Even in the show, I think that Sam sees his powers, regardless of their origin, as a tool to be used to protect people -- to protect Dean.
Ruby is sooooo up to something. Everything she does screams SOOPER SEKRIT EEVOL AGENDA! Personally, I think she is still pushing the original plan of YED.
Again, thanks for the awesome review. It made me happy :D
