I went to Maryland (Univ of Maryland in College Park) for my advising appointment yesterday. I am entering the Master's program in the Dept of Special Ed to get certified to teach early childhood education and severe disabilities. I spent the night at my parents' Monday night after going to two doctor's appts and spending 200 bucks on prescriptions on Monday. Apparently others have made official complaints to both their power companies and to whatever watchgroup PSC is about the sudden jump in utility bills across the region. A guy in the article spoke about changing all his lightbulbs and turning down the thermostat when he received his Dec bill, only to have it jump even more in Jan. Same with us: I  ( Read more... )

Going to Japan for my cousin's wedding...he's at least ten years older than I am, which probably means I'll be the youngest person at the festivities unless he has friends with kids. Is a $400 BGE bill for one month's use, for three people in a 1000 square foot apartment with the thermostat set at 65 degrees at all times, with our normal fall/summer bill of $120 to compare against as far as laundry/appliances/computers/whatnot? $400?? That's ridiculous, right? Something was either misread or our heat pump is broken.
