The Good, The Bad, and the Better Late Than Never

I have loved the Doodle Champion Island Games. It is so lovingly styled like a number of my favorite 16-bit games. I managed to get the scroll for 6 out of 7 of the mini-games. I had zero luck at Artistic Swimming. Frankly surprised I managed Rock Climbing. I was so good at falling off the Q-Bert pyramid as a kid that friends and family took ( Read more... )

Sorry to hear you sucked at it too. It was popular with my friends and family so I tried, but the sound effect for falling off the pyramid occasionally still crops up in my nightmares.

Entrapta and Hordak's relationship in the new She-Ra I think ended up being my favorite (though I liked Catra and Adora's arc as well, and the Bow-Glimmer-Adora friendship, and Scorpia's friendship with Entrapta) -- it was such an unexpected delight! (I didn't bring any preconceived notions to the show, never having watched the original, so it was probably much less of an accomplishment than in your case, but still -- I had not expected to be emotionally invested in Hordak at all, after the first couple of seasons XD)

They might have surprised me, but nothing could compete with the Best Friend Squad. It's the reason I watched the first couple of seasons when it was new instead of just the first couple of episodes. I mean the original Bow was one of my various archer crushes as a kid, and their updating of the character in the reboot is my favorite piece of updating. Catra's updating is a close second.

...it was such an unexpected delight!

It really was! I still can't believe how scared I was for Hordak in the series finale and relieved that She-Ra could purge Horde Prime from him.

I didn't bring any preconceived notions to the show, never having watched the original...I'm old enough to have seen a variety of things I loved as a kid get reboots, and I try to go into them with as open a mind as I can. Some I fall hard for in their own right, some I like as a reasonably sound variation on the original, and some don't work for me. At first, the She-Ra ( ... )

Aww! I really liked Bow -- he was my favorite in the early seasons, and is still one of my favorites overall; I just felt like there wasn't much for him to do in the last couple of seasons, after he comes clean with his dads, and so there was less focus on him, except in a supporting role.

Yeah -- I thought he was headed for some sort of redemptive sacrifice for Entrapta's sake, and was very relieved that he actually got to live through the finale! And Wrong Hordak, too -- I ended up becoming weirdly fond of him and his newfound revolutionary zeal, lol. (I do think he gets a proper name after the show ends.)

Hell, I wasn't all that fond of Mermista or Sea Hawk separately, but somehow the show managed to make me feel like they did fit together.Heh ( ... )

Yay! Because the updating worked so well, he's just as much my favorite in the reboot as the original.

I was all right with his having more of a supporting role in the later seasons because that was all he ever had in the original series. He's more central in the reboot.

Yeah -- I thought he was headed for some sort of redemptive sacrifice for Entrapta's sake...

That's exactly what I was afraid of!

I do think he gets a proper name after the show ends.

Thanks!

...Sea Hawk on his own is rather too much for my taste...I didn't care for his reboot as much as Bow's, but I did appreciate that they let him be crazy about Mermista rather than Adora. I mean in the original series Bow and Sea Hawk basically existed for two reasons -- to add some male characters to the cast, and have a crush on/be in love with She Ra/Adora. Bow had a crush ( ... )
