The only thing I have to say is that vitamin A, and fish oil (also rich in vitamin A) supplements are very dangerous, as you can easily overdose on them. Vitamin A is highly toxic. It is also a fat soluble vitamin so you do not need to have the same daily intake, as it is stored in fats on your body.

well i guess i didn't feel the need to say, "be smart about your vitamin intake." the RDA for vitamin A is 5,000 IU with dosages only being toxic at more than 25,000 IU (which is insane).

because both my chiropractor and the holistic doctor i talk to have said they're crap. that most of them aren't absorbed in the body and that they can see these multivitamins in x-rays, still in pill form, just sitting in the stomach or intestine without dissolving.

re: multivitamin

What is your opinion on store brand prenatal vitamins?

(Never plan on getting pregnant, but the prenats have more B vitamins and iron, and tend to make me feel better)

I've got a question or two about vitamins.

Right now my regimen is fish oil capsules, Biotin, and a multivitamin called Women's Ultra Mega. Now, these give, like, a two or three pill dosage daily...is that right? I mean, am I truly supposed to take two fish oil pills a day? With that Vitamin A toxicity thing, it makes me wonder if I shoulder lower my dosage or take it less often.

Also, is the Multivitamin I mentioned a good one? If it isn't, what's a good one?

Vitamin A is only toxic because it's fat soluble, like Vitamin C and K
I assume that's unlike C and K?

to the original comment, there are a lot of vitamins that hit toxic levels, the question is how much you take. Look for daily upper limits online, not everything agrees on the limits, but it'll give you an idea of what is more toxic and what you will hit faster.

Thank you. SO MUCH. For posting this. Was that you that concurred with me sometime last week in response to the comment about lifting lighter weights to burn fat? Ahhhh.

You're wonderful. All the wrong information on health and fitness circulating around terrifies me, for the sake of the general population. :(

hahaha...it probably was me. i was misinformed for the longest time but things have really changed over the last few years about what it really takes for your body to lose weight. a lot of the stuff in the typical girl's magazines are so ridiculous. especially how they let things like Hydroxycut and Alli advertise in them. but it's all about the benjamins, right? honestly, i've gotten some great workout tips from Women's Health magazines but i still take most of their articles with a grain of salt.

i just can't believe that girls are still going on and on about not wanting to lift weights because they don't want to bulk up. and all of this "how can i lose weight in my stomach and thighs?" which should have been another one of my points - not being able to spot reduce. GAHHHHHHHHHHHH!
