It was nice to see ZZZ but there were way too many T/R shots in there for my liking! Also, lots of M/L but hardly any Barney at all? I mean, I know he got a ton more screentime from S2 onwards, but I don't see why CBS are releasing this video, especially with the heavy T/R bias towards the end, on the eve of B/R's wedding. If they wanted to do a nostalgia video then why not do stills from each of the previous eight seasons showing at least SOME of the development of the B/R relationship? Otherwise, anyone who hasn't watched the show in a while but who decided to tune in for the final couple of episodes could watch this and then be in for a nasty shock because they could be forgiven for thinking that T/R are getting married. But who knows, maybe that's what they want people to think.
I actually thought there were surprisingly few T/R shots - considering for the entire season they were the main paring we only got 2 shots of them (and one of Ted and his blue orchestra), there wasn't even much of Ted's quest for a relationship with Robin.
And we got 2 cute B/R photos - one was a group from "Best Prom Ever" but they are really snuggled up together, and the other was them lazertagging from "Zip Zip Zip" which is definitely their most memorable season 1 moment.
Remember season 1 was about T/R so they really can't avoid it. I suspect they'll be releasing more nostalgia videos as the week goes on (am I right in thinking it's 9 days till the finale?)
Yeah, there wasn't many T/R moments I actually thought there would be more but there wasn't many. I love the two shots that had BR in it but it wasn't much there considering the season was about them. Oh, there wasn't many M/L moments either but that's okay too, I guess.
There was more Barney in later seasons but there was a lot more of him than we got for this sllideshow of season 1.
;__; Aww, the memories. S1 is what got me hooked. I felt like each episode was so well-written and fun, and the dynamics of the gang were great. I love stuff like The Sweet Taste of Liberty and Okay Awesome.
I hope they give us a flashback video for every season.
I never felt like Season 1 was all about the T/R relationship. Other than just establishing the show, I felt like it was about Ted's obsession with her more than anything else and Robin eventually caving to that and caving to what she felt she was expected to want.
The root of why Ted rubs me the wrong way began in this season with his audacious comment of "It's meant to be because I mean it to be!", but I'll give the writers credit in consistency of character in that he's maintained that philosophy throughout (though it could certainly be seen as a bad thing as there's been very little growth). But Season 1 was good on the whole. Season 2 had several good aspects and some funny episodes but mostly it just felt like enduring the T/R relationship because I never liked them and never thought they fit (talk about something not making sense! That's part of my issue with the 9.22 clip. Someone like Ted might make more sense as "marriage material" looking at just the surface

I think S2 was mostly about showing how Ted and Robin's relationship was doomed to fail. The audience knows it won't last, so it's a slow burn showing how they're incompatible. In S1, I didn't like Robin really because I felt like she was more of a love interest and not a main character on the show. We aren't privy to her life much because we're seeing things from Ted's POV. They didn't start really given her real personality traits and quirks until S2.
