I hope they give us a flashback video for every season.
I never felt like Season 1 was all about the T/R relationship. Other than just establishing the show, I felt like it was about Ted's obsession with her more than anything else and Robin eventually caving to that and caving to what she felt she was expected to want.
The root of why Ted rubs me the wrong way began in this season with his audacious comment of "It's meant to be because I mean it to be!", but I'll give the writers credit in consistency of character in that he's maintained that philosophy throughout (though it could certainly be seen as a bad thing as there's been very little growth). But Season 1 was good on the whole. Season 2 had several good aspects and some funny episodes but mostly it just felt like enduring the T/R relationship because I never liked them and never thought they fit (talk about something not making sense! That's part of my issue with the 9.22 clip. Someone like Ted might make more sense as "marriage material" looking at just the surface things, but when you look at them as individuals and compatibility B/R makes worlds more sense than T/R ever did or Robin choosing one of the safe Ted-like guys who would never truly make her happy, and I don't think that ever gets pointed out enough on the show itself).
Anyway, Season 3 is what really got me hooked on the show. Before that I watched it and was interested to see what happened, but Season 3 (and the B/R of Season 3) is what really connected with me and made me so engrossed in this show from just something I watched on TV to something I take quite seriously! So I hope we get to see little videos for the rest of the seasons too.
ETA: I would also appreciate it if anyone could explain to me what was supposed to be so great about the blue orchestra or the blue french horn for that matter. I'm with Robin that I find it creepy that Ted would just be in her apartment like that for one, and even creepiness aside it just seemed very trite and cliched to me. And I love that the only thing that made Robin laugh about the blue french horn (that Ted then tried to turn it into some big romantic thing between them) was a joke he actually stole from Barney,
I think S2 was mostly about showing how Ted and Robin's relationship was doomed to fail. The audience knows it won't last, so it's a slow burn showing how they're incompatible. In S1, I didn't like Robin really because I felt like she was more of a love interest and not a main character on the show. We aren't privy to her life much because we're seeing things from Ted's POV. They didn't start really given her real personality traits and quirks until S2.
