Summary: Kazuya thought that having a possessive boyfriend mean he would be loved entirely and wouldn’t get betrayed. It turned out, too much love would send a person to the bottom of the darkness.

Kazuya opened his eyes and looked beside him. Tatsuya was sleeping soundly. Silently, Kazuya lifted his boyfriend’s arm that circled around his waist. When Kazuya managed to wriggle from his boyfriend hold, he stopped for a while, waiting for any reaction coming out from his sleeping boyfriend. But after a few minutes, Tatsuya didn’t wake up. It seemed that Kazuya had worn his boyfriend out.

Even though he knew Tatsuya wouldn’t wake up, he didn’t want to risk that. So Kazuya got up from the bed carefully. Seeing that Tatsuya was still sleeping peacefully, Kazuya walked towards his wardrobe to dress up. After that, he walked toward the door and closed the bedroom door quietly.

Nakamaru was ready to go to bed when he heard the doorbell ringing. He thought that the person might be Jin. Sighing, he had told Jin countless times to bring his spare key. That guy never paid attention to what he said though, he thought as he walked to open the door.

Nakamaru was surprised to see who was standing in front of his apartment door, not Jin. “Kamenashi?”

Nakamaru’s face showed that he wondered what had made Kazuya came to his place at this hour. Kazuya looked troubled too. He could guess that this must had been related to Jin again.

“I’m sorry to intrude you.” Kazuya said.

Nakamaru didn’t know whether to feel annoyed or pity, but seeing his tired face, Nakamaru told him to come in first. “Come in, then we’ll talk.”

Kazuya uttered “Thank you” in a soft hushed voice before walking inside the apartment. Nakamaru asked him if he wanted to drink something but he refused.

“I just need to tell you something really important.”

“Is it about Jin again?” Nakamaru asked as he sat beside him on the sofa. “If it’s about him, I assure that--”

“I’m sure that Jin isn’t okay at all.” Kazuya cut even before Nakamaru finished his sentence.

“How do you know that?” Nakamaru asked.

“Did you watch the news this evening?”

“Huh? What news?” It was getting more confusing for Nakamaru.

“A man found dead near Sumida River.”

“Then what does it have to do with Jin?”

“That man could be Jin! My boyfriend killed him!” Kazuya let out a frustrated sigh.

“EH?!” Nakamaru couldn’t be more shocked than that after hearing what he said. “I may sound rude, but are you crazy?! What makes you think that way?”

“Because…” Kazuya paused, “It’s a long story.”

“Then tell me from the beginning!” Nakamaru demanded.

Kazuya raked his fingers through his hair. “I’m not sure you want to hear this though.” He sighed. “But let me tell you the story.”

Kazuya began his story from his possessive boyfriend, the project with Jin, and how jealous his boyfriend when he found out that he had been hanging out with Jin. He even told Nakamaru what his boyfriend told him when they watched the news about the dead man.

Nakamaru gaped like a fish hearing the story from Kazuya. “Your boyfriend surely so possessive, but do you really think he would go that far to kill Jin?” He still couldn’t believe someone could easily kill another man just because he’s jealous.

Kazuya growled in frustration, “I tried to think like that. I tried to convinced myself that it’s impossible to think that Jin has been killed by my boyfriend. But when we watched the news and he said that sentence, I couldn’t stop myself anymore from thinking that my boyfriend must have done something to Jin.”

Nakamaru stayed silent. Kazuya continued, “I know how my boyfriend is.”

Moment of silence, Nakamaru finally said something. “But first, we have to make sure that the dead man is Jin before jumping into conclusion like this.” Nakamaru stated.

“That’s why I come here.” Kazuya said. “I need you to accompany me to confirm whether or not the dead man is Jin. I can’t go there alone.” He said in a shaky voice. Panic and worry were clear on Kazuya’s face.

“Okay.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

“Thank you, Nakamaru.” Kazuya still looked tired but there was a hint of relieved after knowing that Nakamaru would accompany him to check on the dead man.

“You’re welcome. As you know that it’s already late, we can’t go now. I think you need to back to your place to catch some sleep.” Nakamaru got up from the couch.

“Can I stay here?” Kazuya asked.

“Why?”

“I don’t want to go back to my place.”

“Look, don’t you think your boyfriend would find it suspicious if you don’t go back to your place tonight?”

Kazuya didn’t answer to that. Nakamaru knew Kamenashi realized that his action was so risky. Then they heard the doorbell rang.

“Oh, it’s probably Jin.” Nakamaru said as he walked to open the door.

It turned out that the person who rang the bell wasn’t Jin but the guy whom Nakamaru never seen before. “Uhm.. sorry? Do I know you?” He asked the man who smiled brightly in front of him.

“Hello.. I’m Ueda Tatsuya.”

Ueda Tatsuya? Sounds familiar. Nakamaru thought.

“Is Kame here?” Ueda asked.

“Oh..” He must be Kamenashi’s boyfriend, Nakamaru continued on his mind. Recalling that Kazuya had mentioned his boyfriend name when he told him the story about his boyfriend.

“I’m sorry for coming this late.” Ueda apologized.

On his mind, Nakamaru didn’t see anything wrong with this guy. Kamenashi must had been over thinking again. As much as Nakamaru wanted to believe Kamenashi’s story, it’s just hard to believe seeing that the boyfriend was in front of him, looking normal and nice.

“Kamenashi!” Nakamaru shouted to inside of the apartment. “Your boyfriend is here to pick you up!”

But Kazuya didn’t come out. Nakamaru suspected that he must be still scared or something he couldn’t point out. So Nakamaru let Ueda to come in, “Come in.”

“Thank you.” Ueda slightly bowed his head.

Nakamaru guided him to the living room where they found Kazuya sat on the sofa, staring at nothing.

“Kazuya..” Ueda said softly, approaching Kazuya to persuade him to go home. “Let’s go home.” He said lovingly as he touched Kazuya’s shoulder gently.

Kazuya flinched feeling his boyfriend hand on his shoulder. Ueda seemed to realize that Kazuya was scared of him so he sat beside him and started to persuade him with gentler voice, Nakamaru noted.

“I’m sorry for what said before. I was just kidding and didn’t mean to scare you. If I knew you’d be freaked out like this, I wouldn’t say that.” Ueda said as he stroke Kazuya’s hair.

Nakamaru who saw the scene in front of him thought that Ueda seemed to be a gentle person, totally wasn’t like what he had been told.

Nakamaru thought he needed to help Ueda to convince Kamenashi to go home with him. Besides, if Ueda was really like what Kamenashi had told him, he wouldn’t come to his apartment politely, right? He would barge in and force himself to come in if Nakamaru didn’t let him in.

“Yeah.. I guess your boyfriend was only kidding. It’s impossible for him to kill Jin. I bet Jin is getting drunk at some club right now. You don’t have to be so worried about him.” Nakamaru sat beside Kazuya and put his hand on his shoulder to show his support.

Ueda nodded in agreement. “Yes, you should believe what Nakamaru said.” Ueda said, giving Nakamaru’s hand on Kazuya’s shoulder a brief glance. “Let’s go home, Kazuya.”

Sighing, Kazuya finally turned his head to look at Ueda. “Ok.”

“Good!” Ueda uttered cheerfully. He took Kazuya's right hand and led him to the door. “Thank you for your help, Nakamaru!” Ueda said while bowing before looking at Kazuya who seemed still troubled over something.

“Yeah.. I’m sorry again and thank you.” Kazuya bowed his head down too.

“Oh.. It’s okay. I’ll inform you if Jin is back.” Nakamaru said. Ueda nodded. Nakamaru saw their retreating back before closing the door.

Inside of the apartment, Nakamaru realized something when he was about to turn off the lamp in the living room. “Eh? But how did that Ueda find out this address and my name?” He muttered to himself. But the he shrugged it off, turned off the lamp, and walked to his bedroom. This night was surely exhausting, he needed sleep. He would have a talk with Jin regarding this when he was back. Nakamaru made a mental note before he went to his bed and fell into a deep slumber.

****
“Come on. Let’s go to sleep, Kazuya.” Ueda still talked in a gentle voice. Kazuya didn’t believe him, he actually didn’t want to go home with Ueda. He wanted to stay in Nakamaru’s apartment until he made sure about the dead man, whether he was Jin or not. But he felt bad for Nakamaru if he insisted to stay. He didn’t want to be a burden.

“Sure..” Kazuya replied, climbing to their bed.

Tatsuya circled his arms to Kazuya’s waist, telling him a good night. “Good night.” Kazuya replied.

A several minutes passed by, Kazuya still couldn’t close his eyes. His brain was working hard, thinking of any possibilities about Jin’s disappearance. He was a hundred percent sure that Tatsuya must had something to do with this situation. No matter what, he was going to see the dead man when the morning come. Besides, Nakamaru already told him that he would accompany him.

“Kazuya, don’t think too much. You need a rest.” Tatsuya’s voice took him out of his reverie.

“I can’t sleep.” Kazuya managed to say with a calm voice even though deep inside he was full with raging emotion.

Tatsuya moved on the bed, causing a rustling sound of the bed sheet. He turn on the bedside lamp, Kazuya could see his boyfriend’s face clearly. Tatsuya didn’t look mad, his expression was gentle.

“I’m sorry, Kazuya.” Tatsuya said as he kissed Kazuya’s forehead. Kazuya only nodded. “I’m gonna make a glass of warm milk for you. Heard that it work well to help fall asleep.”

“Okay..” Kazuya answered. Tatsuya then got up from the bed, leaving Kazuya alone.

Heaving a deep sighed, Kazuya didn’t know how to face Tatsuya. His boyfriend seemed to be calmer and gentler than usual. Not that he mind that, it was just feel weird after seeing a very possessive Tatsuya in the past few weeks. Tatsuya’s act made Kazuya feel even more suspicious. But then again, it might be just him and his paranoid mind.

“Kazuya..” Kazuya saw Tatsuya holding a glass of milk in front of his face. Seemed like he had been zoned out again, he didn’t realize when his boyfriend came in.

Kazuya straightened his body and took a glass of milk from his boyfriend. He sipped it, trying to measure the hotness. When he felt it’s not too hot, he finished it in one gulp. After that, he gave the glass back to his boyfriend.

Tatsuya chuckled because he thought that Kazuya was too cute. “Good boy.” He patted Kazuya’s head. Tatsuya put the glass on the bedside table and joined Kazuya on the bed.

Kazuya felt Tatsuya’s arms circled his waist. He made himself comfortable on his boyfriend hold. That milk was really a great help after all, it worked fast - too fast. He felt his eyes getting heavy. He heard a faint voice of Tatsuya saying good night. But he couldn’t even reply to that because he fell asleep instantly.

The next day, Kazuya woke up alone on the bed. He was quite surprised to see the empty space beside him, he was sure he fell asleep with Tatsuya hugging him. Worry had started to creep on him, what if Tatsuya went to hurt another person. He quickly got up from the bed and ran to the living room, no one there. Then he smelled something from the kitchen, he walked to kitchen to find Tatsuya was busy preparing breakfast.

“Good morning, Kazuya.” Tatsuya greeted while putting two plates on the table.

Kazuya didn’t answer because he still felt a little bit panic. Hearing no answer from Kazuya, Tatsuya turned his head and saw Kazuya’s panicked expression. “Kazuya? What’s wrong? Are you okay?” He approached Kazuya, his face looked worried.

Realizing that Tatsuya was here, Kazuya felt somehow relieved. “Yeah.. I’m fine. Don’t worry.” He forced himself to smile.

“Let’s eat then!” Tatsuya ushered him to sit. They ate together with a comfortable atmosphere around them. At least, that was what Kazuya tried to make himself feel. Because he was still feeling unsure inside.

After they finished eating, Kazuya went to the bathroom to take a bath. Kazuya found Tatsuya had prepared his outfit and put it neatly on the bed. Kazuya dressed up, got ready to go to work.

“Good luck, Kazuya.” Tatsuya hugged him before Kazuya opened the front door and bid his goodbye. That morning everything was so normal.

As soon as Kazuya arrived at the office, he visited Nakamaru’s department. He didn’t meet Nakamaru though because one of Nakamaru’s colleague told him that Nakamaru hadn’t arrived. Kazuya checked his watch and saw that it was only five minutes left before the work time started. He suddenly felt bad, Nakamaru maybe didn’t get enough sleep because of last night and he was late to work because of him.

Kazuya decided to see Nakamaru at lunch time. He would apologize for disturbing him last night and asked to accompany him to check on the dead man today. So Kazuya cast aside his worry for a while and focused himself on working instead.

But it turned out, Nakamaru hadn’t showed up even until going home time. Kazuya visited his department at lunch time but his colleague said that Nakamaru hadn’t showed up since morning. “What’s wrong with him?” Kazuya muttered to himself.

Kazuya massaged his forehead, somehow all this ruckus made his head hurt. He couldn’t wait anymore, with or without Nakamaru, he would go the check on the dead man’s body today. He rushed to take a taxi.

At the police station, he asked the police if he could see the body of the dead man they found near Sumida River the other day. The police asked him if there was a member of his family that went missing. Kazuya answered yes, that was why he came here. The police immediately took him to the mortuary at the nearest hospital.

Kazuya was so scared and nervous. What if it was really Jin. How would his reaction going to be. He wanted to run away but he couldn’t. He must do this. He brave himself. He gulped seeing that the police was ready to open the cover of the dead body in front of them.

Kazuya paled the second the face of the dead man was revealed. Jin. Jin was dead. Kazuya was so shocked no words coming out of his mouth. He was rooted in his place. He was so pale the police officer started to worry for him.

“Kamenashi san, are you okay?” The police officer asked him. “Do you know this man?”

It took several minutes for Kazuya to finally regain his composure. “Jin.”

“What?” The police officer didn’t hear what Kazuya said.

“I know him. He’s my friend, Akanishi Jin.” Kazuya said with a shaky voice. He could feel his body tremble in fear and perhaps, anger. “Who did this to him?”

“Unfortunately, we haven’t made any progress. We’re still investigating this case. I’m sorry.” The police officer said with an apologetic tone.

Kazuya didn’t say anything. He didn’t know what to do. Did Tatsuya really kill Jin? He couldn’t think straight anymore.

When Kazuya was about to ask if he could prepare a proper burial for Jin, the police officer started talking again. “Actually, we found another dead body this morning.”

Kazuya looked shocked. The police officer continued. “We found him not so far from where we found Akanishi. ”

Kazuya gasped. “Oh my god..”

“We still don’t know if it’s related to Akanishi’s case but we also can’t identify this man because we didn’t find any identity card or credit card or something because his wallet is missing.”

Kazuya had had enough after seeing Jin’s corpse. But something on his mind nagged him to ask the police officer if he could see it.

“Could I see it?” He told his request to the police officer.

“Well.. you can. But are you sure?” The police officer looked unsure.

“Yeah.. I want to see.” Kazuya tried to say in a firm voice even though deep down he was scared.

“Okay. This way.” The police officer led him to the other side of the mortuary.

“It’s the body we found this morning.” The police officer said as he opened the cover.

What Kazuya saw was probably the thing he thought he would never see in his worst nightmare. After seeing Jin’s dead body, he had to see a very pale and lifeless Nakamaru Yuichi. The Nakamaru he just had a talk yesterday, the Nakamaru that agreed to accompany him to go to the police station.

“Oh god.. Nakamaru!” Kazuya shrieked. He couldn’t contain his feelings anymore. He broke down. “No.. no.. this isn’t real. I’m not seeing this.” Kazuya chanted.

“Kamenashi san, do you know him?” The police officer approached him and help him to get up. Clearly didn’t expect that Kazuya would know the other dead man.

“Please tell me it’s not real.” Kazuya pleaded weakly.

“I’m sorry Kamenashi san.” The police officer apologized. “I think you need to go home to calm down first. I’ll call you later to ask you about Akanishi and this man. Let me help you to find a taxi.”

The police officer was supporting Kazuya’s limp body. When the police officer was about to call for a taxi, there was a car stopped in front of them.

Someone was coming out from the driver seat. “Hello.. I’m Ueda Tatsuya, Kamenashi’s boyfriend.”

“Oh.. great. Ueda san, I think Kamenashi san needs a rest. He needs to calm down. What he saw just now wasn’t good. Take care of him.”

Tatsuya took Kazuya from the police officer before he helped Kazuya to get in the car. “Thank you for your help, officer.” Tatsuya bowed then get in the car, drove the car away with a very quiet Kazuya.

Kazuya still stayed quiet when they arrived at their apartment. Tatsuya tried to start a conversations but Kazuya ignored all of his attempts.

“Kazuya, what do you want for dinner?” Kazuya sat on the sofa in their living room, didn’t bother to even turn his head to see Tatsuya.

“Let’s just order a pizza then.” Tatsuya took the phone and call for pizza delivery.

“Kazuya, why don’t you take a shower?” Tatsuya kept on asking.

After several questions had been thrown by Tatsuya, Kazuya finally said something. “Why did you do this?”

“Did what?” Tatsuya asked nonchalantly.

“You murdered Jin and Nakamaru.” Kazuya’s face was expressionless, but there was a hint of disgust on his voice.

Tatsuya came to sit beside him. “Kazuya, I didn’t --”

“DON’T LIE TO ME!!” Tatsuya’s words was cut by Kazuya's scream.

Tatsuya immediately gathered him in his arm, hugging Kazuya to calm him down. Yet, Kazuya kept struggling to release himself from Tatsuya’s embrace.

“You killed my friends!!” Kazuya’s voice was full of accusation.

Tatsuya hugged him tighter. Kazuya couldn’t struggle anymore because he was definitely weaker than his boyfriend. Besides, he lost almost all of his energy when he saw Jin and Nakamaru’s dead bodies.

“I love you.” Tatsuya whispered. “I love you more than anything, Kazuya.” He continued in a firm voice.

“I wouldn’t let anyone to take you away from me.” Tatsuya didn’t loosen his embrace even though Kazuya had stopped struggling.

“You are a murderer.”

“I did that for you. Because I love you too much and I need to keep you away from them.” Tatsuya didn’t sound guilty at all.

Kazuya gripped Tatsuya’s shirt. “No. You don’t love me! What you love is just my body. You are only using me for your own pleasure. You wouldn’t hurt me if you love me!” Kazuya wanted to screamed and fight his boyfriend if it wasn’t because he felt so weak.

“You wouldn’t kill my friend if you love me!” Kazuya started to struggle again to release himself from his boyfriend hold.

Tatsuya couldn’t keep his calm facade anymore. He grabbed Kazuya’s hair, forcing Kazuya to look at his face. “Yes, I killed your friends.” Tatsuya hissed. He moved his face closer to Kazuya’s their nose almost touched.

“I killed your pervert friends who wanted to separate us!!”

Kazuya didn’t want to hear that. He managed to free himself from Tatsuya’s hold.

“I stabbed them with a knife, one after another!!” Tatsuya said in a loud voice because Kazuya closed his ears with both of his hands, clearly didn’t want to hear about such a detail from his boyfriend.

“I stabbed Jin then I throw him to the area near Sumida River!” Tatsuya kept talking.

“No! Stop it! I don’t want to hear it!” Kazuya screamed, his hands still on both of his ears.

“Why Kazuya? Why?!” Tatsuya grabbed Kazuya’s hands, preventing him from covering his ears. He held both of Kazuya’s hand. Kazuya closed his eyes.

“Listen to me, Kazuya..” Tatsuya ordered him. “You should have listened to their plea. How they pleaded to me to forgive them. To spare their lives. They said they won’t lay a finger on you.”

Kazuya began to cry. He didn’t want to hear this anymore. He wanted to run away. His boyfriend was going mad. No, his boyfriend was already mad all this time, Kazuya just pretended that he didn’t saw his boyfriend craziness.

“But I didn’t believe them.” Tatsuya caressed his cheek lovingly. “I stabbed them repeatedly. Until a few minutes later I heard that they stopped pleading. They didn’t even move or talk. Can you guess why, Kazuya?”

A tear fell on Kazuya’s right cheek. “They have died.” Tatsuya wipe the tears and kissed Kazuya wet cheek.

Kazuya bit his lips to stop a whimper to come out from his mouth. “And now, you, my love. Now you can stay at home and listen to every word that I say.” Tatsuya gripped his chin.

“Disobey me and you will get your punishment.” Tatsuya threatened while stroking his hair before kissing his lips softly.

Kazuya gave Tatsuya a sharp glance. “I will never listen to you. You better kill me.” He said, eyes full of disgust.

Tatsuya’s patience had become very thin he couldn’t act gentle anymore. Kazuya was dragged to the small empty storage room by Tatsuya, he was thrown inside. His boyfriend locked him inside and left just like that.

Kazuya banged the door, shouting to Tatsuya to open the door.

“I won’t open it unless you decide to listen to me.” Kazuya heard his boyfriend saying from outside of the storage room.

“I hate you!!! You murderer!! You better rot in jail!!” Kazuya shouted loudly. He kept banging the door and cursing his boyfriend. Yet, there was no answer from Tatsuya, it seemed that he had left.

Kazuya screamed some more, hitting the door with his palm, trying to get his boyfriend attention. After a several minutes, there was still no sound from outside of the storage room. Kazuya shouted again. “You murderer!! Get me out of here!!”

Suddenly the door was opened. Kazuya didn’t expect that Tatsuya would open the door that quickly. He saw his boyfriend smirked before shoving several things to him roughly that made him stumbled back and dropped those things.

Trying to get up, Kazuya looked at those things his boyfriend shoved to him. Those were Nakamaru’s and Akanishi’s ID cards, blooded shirts that looked like it had been ripped by a knife here and there. And to Kazuya’s horror, there was a human finger.

Kazuya stared at that in shock, he didn’t utter any words. “For your companion here.” He heard Tatsuya said before closing the door again.

Soon after, Kazuya’s scream and loud cry could be heard from that storage room all night long.
