Re: The Secret Notes of Lady Kanoko #2lyschanApril 13 2011, 12:42:28 UTC
Hmm, I found the "You're the star..." line and tried to figure out what it reminded you of... All I could think of were the sections in Tramps Like Us that take a page or so to list some of what's-his-name's corniest/over-the-top lines. Not sure that's what you're thinking of though-if you remember, let me know because I want to know too!
Tsubaki's constantly showing up's gotta be more than coincidence. He always comes for such silly reasons like bringing pictures, a DVD, etc. I bet he found out where her current school was and got his family to plan their vacation there!
July will be a wonderful month of manga :D This and Skip and VBR and more!

"... if you remember, let me know because I want to know too!" Still working on that. Will update as soon as I find out.
I have a question regarding #1, when Kanoko divided people into 2 types A and F. I haven't figured out what those letters mean? Do you know?
I feel that finding out where Kanoko moved to and getting the family to go vacation there take lots of efforts. But then he sat on trains for hours to see her, so that makes sense.

I'm trying to think of other characters who might say cheesy lines like Tsubaki's-maybe the guy in Tsubasa: Those With Wings? (but that had just illustrations in the 1/4 spaces, I think.) One of the Ouran boys?
Oh, the A and F-I think it explained in the book, but she was categorizing people by whether she thought they were fans of one Doraemon creator or the other (see wikipedia); the "Fujiko Fujio" duo used the individual pen names Fujiko F. Fujio and Fujiko Fujio A). I have no idea what the difference between them was (I guess they did create some works independently?), but that's Kanoko...
Yeah, Tsubaki's just a liiiittle obsessed. Tee hee.
Re: The Secret Notes of Lady Kanoko #2badtzphotoApril 13 2011, 16:37:31 UTC
yeah, it did. But I thought she was just using that as a diversion since she didn't want to tell Natsukusa the truth. also, I'm thinking that next volumes Kanoko may transfer back to the same school as Tsubaki, Natsukusa, and Hanai. But on the cover Kanoko wears a different uniform than Hanai. The pink hair girl is very amusing :) It's funny that she shows up again in the sequel in the same school as Kanoko. Maybe she's stalking her, too :P

Nope, I think she was telling the truth :D That's why she was so appalled when Natsukusa didn't even know who she was talking about.
It would be fun if she transfered back! The uniform differences are intriguing too... I hadn't noticed before. For a minute I thought they could be spring/fall versions, but Hanai's is long sleeved too so that's not it.
I love Yumemi :D Ahh, yeah, maybe she's a Kanoko-stalker too! Hahaha! (I think it's probably just coincidence in her case, but who knows?)

In any case, the character I was thinking of was Ojika fromSee you tomorrow by Kyoko Hikawa in volume 3 of From Far Away. In the 1/4 column, all the characters of See you tomorrow talked about what they are good at. Tomomi asked Ojika what he was good at. His answer: "My special skill is that I can easily say nauseatingly flattering words." (sparkle, sparkle). They all nodded: ""How true!"

Okay, I haven't looked at the script for this volume since I did the adaptation, but here's what I remember off the top of my head. (Plus a quote at the end. *g

Thanks so much. You're so awesome for doing this. I appreciate it very much. I'm digging the book out to look at the pictures again with your explanations. And there I thought Tsubaki had a legitimate reason for hanging out at the arcade playing games and just happened to run into Kanoko :) He's a real stalker, isn't he? Hanai is so cute and nice :) LJ is so weird regarding comments.

I'm waiting for Lys to read it and share what she can. She did it for 2 volumes of the sequel.
