A/N: Double drabble.
Working for Torchwood, Ianto had grown accustomed to searching for all manner of objects, and sometime living creatures or sentient lifeforms. Every time the Rift that ran through Cardiff disgorged something it had ripped from some other world or time period, one or more members of the Torchwood Three team would be despatched to retrieve it before it fell into the wrong hands.
Locating some of the smaller items or more elusive creatures had often been like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Even tracking things by following Rift energy traces didn’t always make the search easier. The Rift had a habit of dropping things in awkward places, up trees, on window ledges, behind dumpsters, or even in the depths of Cardiff Bay. It was often a frustrating and time-consuming task, but a necessary one.
Now, however, Ianto knew he was facing the most difficult search he’d ever undertaken. Jack had fled earth after sacrificing his grandson, believing that Ianto was also dead, which he had been. Now he wasn’t, but Ianto had no way of contacting his lover to tell him.
How was he to find one immortal man who could be anywhere in space or time?
