A/N: Double drabble.
Ryo frowned through the windshield. “Where are we?”
Dee slammed on the brakes, bringing their rental car to a juddering halt. Thankfully, they were driving along an otherwise deserted two-land road, so the sudden stop wasn’t a problem.
“Don’t you know?”
“Um…” Ryo bit his lap.
“You’re supposed to be navigating!”
“I thought I was, but…” He trailed off, turning to his lover, looking confused. “It’s the place names, they’re all so similar. Why are there so many ells, and what do the Welsh have against vowels?”
“Damned if I know.” Dee put the car in gear and drove on until they came to a layby where he could pull over. “Maybe we should try flaggin’ a car down, ask for directions.”
“Bad idea, we haven’t seen another car for at least half an hour,” Ryo reminded his partner. “Besides, even if someone did come along, I’m not sure we’d be able to make ourselves understood. We don’t speak Welsh.”
“A lot of the locals don’t either,” Dee pointed out.
“True, but they still have Welsh accents.”
“Which we’re understandin’ better than we were. Welp, no point sittin’ here. Let’s keep goin’ ‘til we can figure out where we’re at.”
