A/N: Double drabble.
“What time d’you think it is?” Ianto asked as he and Jack trudged wearily back to the SUV after a long battle with the nasty, toothy creature they were carrying between them in a reinforced cage.
“Late.” Jack looked over at the horizon where the sun was just beginning to rise. “Or possibly early. Amounts to the same thing at this time of year.”
It was late June, the longest day only just past, and while Ianto welcomed the extra daylight, it did mean the nights tended to pass in the blink of an eye.
“True. I’ll be glad to get whatever this is safely locked away in the cells. Think we might get an hour or two of sleep before we have to get up again?”
“I’ll make sure of it; you need your rest.”
In the cage, their captive was scrabbling about, getting increasingly agitated, and as the sun rose fully, the creature suddenly let out a screech and burst into flames. In less than a minute, all that remained was a greasy smear on the floor of the cage.
Ianto blinked at it. “Oh.”
Jack stared too. “Huh. That solves one problem.”
“Mm. Late but not lamented.”
