Reflections fo What Life Used to Be...

Or possibly what I want it to be.  This month marks two years since I graduated with my Masters in Library and Information Science.  Two years of unemployment.  Until this point in my life I've been successful in all my endeavors (with the exception of things athletic or math related).  When adversity has shown its face I've soldiered forth.  ( Read more... )

I hear every word of this and I know exactly what you are going through. While I do have the comfort of a library job, it's at a stingy private college that devalues librarians and library services. And then when a few of the boomers do retire and/or die, no one is hired to replace them. And it sucks. I know people who have been much less geographically limited in their searches than you and who still haven't found a job a year or more down the line.

It's just so crazy and stupid and frustrating that no one's paying you yet to do what you're good at. :(

I can certainly relate. I was out of college for about 15 months before I found anything. During that time I was living with my parents and making a "living" at Filene's, taking clothes out of boxes and putting them on hangers. (Surprisingly, this is not what my degree is in.) Definitely don't give up hope; you are one good interview away from a change for the better.
