Reflections fo What Life Used to Be...

I hear every word of this and I know exactly what you are going through. While I do have the comfort of a library job, it's at a stingy private college that devalues librarians and library services. It's part-time, and it's a spot where all the other co-workers don't take the title seriously. One of them doesn't even have an MLS and is the Reference Librarian. That's crazy to me.

As for trying to find a new spot, one with hours and pay that make having an MLIS mean something, you nailed it. Babyboomers. Also, the tanked economy and all that pushed up the retirement of a lot of the people in our field and I've heard stories about library cutbacks all over.

You are definitely not alone. I know Carrie is in the same boat, too. She's been stuck at Home Depot because library jobs in Ohio basically don't exist unless you're a K-12 librarian.

Too bad we are so far apart or I would bake you a cake and have you over for quality video gaming and shenanigans. And a hug. While I realize those are temporary fillers, I would hope that the support and friendship helped to battle and offset some of the gloom.

So for now, long-distance internet *hugs* ! Feel free to write and vent whenever you need to!

Oh Tim shenanigans. How I miss them. Thanks for the kind words as they mean a great deal. I definitely needed to vent. I'm so sick of customer service.
