[Fai was sitting outside with a hammer in his hands as he appeared to be hammering something lightly together, if at all. Fai wasn't really interested in doing the work or doing it as quickly as possible so instead he was taking the lazy way out and only pretending to do something when clearly he wasn't. In fact, Fai hadn't a clue to even what he ( Read more... )

[Jake's on his way to wander about when he spots Fai. He hasn't exactly talked to him since the whole "meowing" thing, so he figures he should at least put in a "howdy". Besides, he was on friendly terms with the magician. He approaches with a whistle.]

What are you buildin' there, Pardner?

[Fai was just lightly hammering away at the plank, but not any nails that were right next to him before looking up when someone was talking to him.]

Oh hi there. I don't actually know what I'm building, I'm just hitting a hammer to a piece of wood.

That so?

[Jake moseys to a spot somewhat near Fai and loiters the best a cowboy can.]

I have no idea, I just saw these and thought I would try and help out. Not a good idea when you have no idea what it was in the first place.

[Thinking about it there might have been instruction close by these things that he might not have noticed.]

[[Not so much what the person's doing, but the fact that he over-hears asking a question similar to that.]]

The possibilities are almost infinite given the right set of hands.

[Okay that pings something in the man's head as he looks over.]

Hello there. What do you mean by the possibilities are almost infinite?

[[He smirks, taking off his hat to be polite.]]

Just exactly as I said, with two pieces or more of something one can make a myriad of things. May I?

[[He offers his hand, palm up, to take something to show him just what he means.]]

[Well this was pretty much interesting. Not only was he curious about the marks, he was also curious to know what the man meant. So by picking up one of the planks of wood he had in his possession he held it out.]

Here you go, try with this.

[Tris is walking by and looking at the wood. She's smiling a little.] Quite a lot.

Part of learning about magic back home is seeing what potential lies in things most people consider everyday... Like clothing. [Tris is gladder and gladder that Sandry made her clothes with every passing day.]

That sounds very interesting. Soo is that how it was like in your world, or how you learned about magic anyway?

[Fai seems to have stopped working completely as he turns around and sits there looking over with a smile. Leaning about other types magic was simply fascinating to him.]

Well, for one thing, you have to be born with magic. It's not something a normal person can just learn. The rest depends on what sort you have- there are 'academic' mages, who work what most people think of as magic, and ambient mages who have magic that specifically expresses itself through something else, like blacksmithing, carpentry, or plants.

[Well Fai certainlly is listening carefully and with that sense of magic around him right now he can guess one thing.]

Can you do magic yourself?
