002 - Near - [Audio] - Please bear with him and his tl;dr

Apr 11, 2011 13:04

[A week of waiting had been enough. Near had see how the epidemic had subsided just as quickly as it had come, and all over the course of exactly one week, just as he was told. The event itself paved way for other advantages as well. Near did not have to worry about any sort of physical threats due to everyone else falling ill, and since those who ( Read more... )

[He's keeping a very composed, level tone through all of this...]

Spare locks and security cameras are something you may have to scavenge - we'll end up in another city temporarily sooner or later, I'm sure.

As for regulating crimes, that's ... [he frowns.] There was an attempt at a system that imploded rather badly; attempts at reorganizing something have been slow. I suspect that some are still wary after the last attempt.

I haven't been here as long as some others, but I have been attempting to study the Author and her patterns; I might know something of use. As for contacting her, the best that I know of is that there's a talking rabbit that appears occasionally who seems to be connected to her that would know. The plots typically last a week, although there's occasionally shifts in what's going on that'll drag it out for two or three weeks, and change over quite regularly sometime Sunday night; it seems to vary exactly when.

What sort of tasks are you looking for help with?

[Pfft, silly boy, Near doesn't scavenge. He gets people to scavenge for him!]

Thank you for the information. [A very comprehensive answer. Congratulations, stranger. Near is mildly impressed with you.]

So crimes do exist at the manor? I suppose there are people around to alert if they ever occur, perhaps you yourself, since you sound involved? How does one contact this rabbit? I don't suppose he owns one of these phones?

As for the tasks, how much of your time are you willing to spare?

[Well, it's how he's used to functioning; filling someone in on what's going on is more to his benefit in any case, since someone screwing up and doing something stupid or tripping over something they didn't expect is more likely of a danger than someone trying to somehow manipulate or take advantage of things.Yes, they do exist, although what qualifies is open to debate - generally it seems that starting chaos or stepping outside the bounds of some sort of personal conflict is the general definition here. The population is widely varied, and there's a range between people accustomed to structured stable societies, as I'd presume you to be so far, and people from situations that're far more chaotic and far less stable. The previous legal system partly tripped up in attempting to hold people who had no reason to have faith in authority and law for its own sake to their definition of the rules, and "society" here has certainly not had time to develop any sense of commonalities that'd allow for rules that are "stable foregone ( ... )

Yes, I have noticed those with short tempers on the network over the past week, which is why I am concerned. Given the density of the community and how public everything is, I do not believe extravagant, planned crimes would be as much of a problem, since they could hardly go undetected. However, that does not decrease the likelihood of someone acting out from provocation or insanity. In that case, like you said, basic common sense dictates how things progress. Good choices would be the best prevention factor, but it is always good to be prepared in case something does go wrong, which is what I intend to do. This is not strictly limited to dangers caused by the residents, but also those instigated by the Author. You mentioned that there are a few here who volunteered to act for exactly this reason. I would like to know who they are so that I may take your advice and forge a decent relationship with these people.

["Relationship" is a very broad term here.]

Also, if this rabbit has a blackberry, do you have his contact information?

I am very familiar with space- traveling through time and space is my... hobby- however, I can't seem to get into the control room. Must be a dead lock seal.

[If you listen closely- you can hear this!]

That's good to know. In that case, does where we are right now appear at all familiar to you?

Also, what is that noise?

[He didn't hear it earlier when that other person was also trying to break into the control room.]

Not even remotely- but if I could just get into the control room- I could probably figure something out but there's no guarantee we're in my universe- and if things work like I think they do with this girl- we are definitely not. The Robot caretakers should be more... responsive.

Oh that? That's just the Sonic- it's how I usually open doors but it doesn't work on wood- not the problem here- or a deadlock seal.

[You have officially caught his attention.]

What robot caretakers?

What kinds of doors does the Sonic work on?

What kind of questions fur not average humans? What is better then afurage?

[The cat puns are coming fairly thick, although she doesn't sound like anything other than a thirteen year old.]

I want to get to know the different kinds of people I will be living with. [And partially so that he can get a good idea of who not to make angry, since Near's a wuss. D:]

So I will be asking a few general questions regarding their abilities and backgrounds, but it depends on the flow of conversation. Also, I clearly implied "other than," not "better than" average.

Does that clarify things?

Nyokay! [Very, very chipper voice] I'm ofur then afurage, So I can answer your questions!

Hello Nepata.

[Is the annoying way of talking via animal puns a trait of her species? If so, Near hopes there aren't more of them here.]

What is moirail, Equius, and Alternia?

[Why, hello there potential new BFF 8D]

If my answers can be helpful, I'll be more than willing to help~

Now, lets see..I have a map of the house, although it is hand drawn, but, it is yours if you need it. I only drew it out of boredom, you see

[Da Vinci smile]

I do not much about whether or not there are spare locks, but again, I'm sure I can put one together for you should you need one.

I do not know much about the crime here; as far as I can tell, none have been committed - although! I do know how you can contact the Author!

[He's so distracted by answering your questions, he's not going to tell you how for now]

Now, I can't tell you much about the plots, but this little device is a truly remarkable machine.

..I think that's it...Ah yes! What were these tasks you needed help with? Perhaps I can be of some assistance?

[Interesting way of dressing. So the Author even kidnaps those from as far back as the 15th century.]

Thank you for the offer. I have already acquired one from Mister Eugene Watson, so it is no longer essential. However I will gladly take a look at your version as well since the ones I have now are not that great. We can discuss that later.

[Onto moar important matters, b/c OMG look how many questions he tried to answer! Good boy, Leo, good boy! Have treat! 8D]

Have you built locks before? If so, are they the same kind as the ones from our rooms back at the manor?

How does one contact the Author?

Regarding your assistance, I will speak with you about that as soon as you have answered my questions.

[Oh right, and before he forgets.] I appreciate your help. [Always tack on manners regardless of whether you mean it or not!]

[Leonardo is all smiles that he gets to help someone~]

Of course.

[B/c Leo is totally a Golden Retriever...]

Si, once or twice. They would be similar to the ones we have the Manor, yes, although I'd need the appropriate materials to make them, along with the keys.

I have been told that you can contact the Author by simply writing on the walls, though I do not know how she responds or how long it takes for her to do so.

[Big smile for the good manners! 8D]

It is my pleasure-

Ah, Mia Dispiace - I am Leonardo Da Vinci - what may I call you?

[The Leonardo Da Vinci? Duly noted.]

Leonardo Da Vinci, it's a pleasure to meet you. You may call me Near.

As for the materials, if you need time to collect them, that's fine. Did the house come pre-stocked with the necessary supplies?

[Writing on the walls, now that one's new.]

And who told you about writing on the walls?

Yes, that's fine.

[Dam dat Doctor-Patient confidentiality x 2]

I just wanted to ask if you were familiar with the type of epidemic that hit the house last week. I understand that it was most likely the Author's work, but I'm curious to know whether or not those illnesses actually exist in real life.
