[A week of waiting had been enough. Near had see how the epidemic had subsided just as quickly as it had come, and all over the course of exactly one week, just as he was told. The event itself paved way for other advantages as well. Near did not have to worry about any sort of physical threats due to everyone else falling ill, and since those who

Spare locks and security cameras are something you may have to scavenge - we'll end up in another city temporarily sooner or later, I'm sure.
As for regulating crimes, that's ... [he frowns.] There was an attempt at a system that imploded rather badly; attempts at reorganizing something have been slow. I suspect that some are still wary after the last attempt.
I haven't been here as long as some others, but I have been attempting to study the Author and her patterns; I might know something of use. As for contacting her, the best that I know of is that there's a talking rabbit that appears occasionally who seems to be connected to her that would know. The plots typically last a week, although there's occasionally shifts in what's going on that'll drag it out for two or three weeks, and change over quite regularly sometime Sunday night; it seems to vary exactly when.
What sort of tasks are you looking for help with?

Thank you for the information. [A very comprehensive answer. Congratulations, stranger. Near is mildly impressed with you.]
So crimes do exist at the manor? I suppose there are people around to alert if they ever occur, perhaps you yourself, since you sound involved? How does one contact this rabbit? I don't suppose he owns one of these phones?
As for the tasks, how much of your time are you willing to spare?

["Relationship" is a very broad term here.]
Also, if this rabbit has a blackberry, do you have his contact information?

[If you listen closely- you can hear this!]

Also, what is that noise?
[He didn't hear it earlier when that other person was also trying to break into the control room.]

Oh that? That's just the Sonic- it's how I usually open doors but it doesn't work on wood- not the problem here- or a deadlock seal.

What robot caretakers?
What kinds of doors does the Sonic work on?

[The cat puns are coming fairly thick, although she doesn't sound like anything other than a thirteen year old.]

So I will be asking a few general questions regarding their abilities and backgrounds, but it depends on the flow of conversation. Also, I clearly implied "other than," not "better than" average.
Does that clarify things?

I'm Nepata, green blood moirail of Equius, blue blood. I'm a troll from Alternia, and until being brought here, I've never seen a human in real life befure!

[Is the annoying way of talking via animal puns a trait of her species? If so, Near hopes there aren't more of them here.]
What is moirail, Equius, and Alternia?

If my answers can be helpful, I'll be more than willing to help~
Now, lets see..I have a map of the house, although it is hand drawn, but, it is yours if you need it. I only drew it out of boredom, you see
[Da Vinci smile]
I do not much about whether or not there are spare locks, but again, I'm sure I can put one together for you should you need one.
I do not know much about the crime here; as far as I can tell, none have been committed - although! I do know how you can contact the Author!
[He's so distracted by answering your questions, he's not going to tell you how for now]
Now, I can't tell you much about the plots, but this little device is a truly remarkable machine.
..I think that's it...Ah yes! What were these tasks you needed help with? Perhaps I can be of some assistance?

Thank you for the offer. I have already acquired one from Mister Eugene Watson, so it is no longer essential. However I will gladly take a look at your version as well since the ones I have now are not that great. We can discuss that later.
[Onto moar important matters, b/c OMG look how many questions he tried to answer! Good boy, Leo, good boy! Have treat! 8D]
Have you built locks before? If so, are they the same kind as the ones from our rooms back at the manor?
How does one contact the Author?
Regarding your assistance, I will speak with you about that as soon as you have answered my questions.
[Oh right, and before he forgets.] I appreciate your help. [Always tack on manners regardless of whether you mean it or not!]

Of course.
[B/c Leo is totally a Golden Retriever...]
Si, once or twice. They would be similar to the ones we have the Manor, yes, although I'd need the appropriate materials to make them, along with the keys.
I have been told that you can contact the Author by simply writing on the walls, though I do not know how she responds or how long it takes for her to do so.
[Big smile for the good manners! 8D]
It is my pleasure-
Ah, Mia Dispiace - I am Leonardo Da Vinci - what may I call you?
Reply
Leonardo Da Vinci, it's a pleasure to meet you. You may call me Near.
As for the materials, if you need time to collect them, that's fine. Did the house come pre-stocked with the necessary supplies?
[Writing on the walls, now that one's new.]
And who told you about writing on the walls?

I just wanted to ask if you were familiar with the type of epidemic that hit the house last week. I understand that it was most likely the Author's work, but I'm curious to know whether or not those illnesses actually exist in real life.
