Italian Sausage & Pasta Pot

Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
8 Italian sausages
2.8l hot chicken stock
400g penne pasta
2 carrots , thinly sliced
2 onions , thinly sliced
3 celery sticks, thinly sliced
140g green beans , cut into 5cm/2in lengths
handful flat-leaf parsley , chopped

Sounds really good! If it's bland, here's what I'd do.

First, make sure you're salting the pasta water. It makes a big difference.

Fresh chopped tomato could be a nice addition.

Finish it off with some freshly grated parmigiano reggiano, Parmesan or pecorino romano cheese.

Oh, and what kind of olive oil are you using? If it's extra-light tasting or regular, extra virgin has quite a bit more flavor.

I have to admit, I never salt my water, so I'll give that a go. I'd already thought of adding tomato next time - I've always got one or two in my fridge so will see how that goes :D
