Jeremy can't stop the "Really?" that flies out of his mouth, but then he instantly feels worse for caring about something like that when his sister just died, and came back, as a vampire. (His life is so fucked up, now, there's just no way around it.)
LOVE IT.

Jeremy smiles, but Damon waits a beat before he returns it. A grin actually tugs at his mouth as they stare at each other, and Jeremy realizes how little of that has been going on for any of them. "Cool," he says, climbing from the car. "I'll see you later."

"T.T.F.N.," Damon says, waving his hand, his smirk firmly in place.
This is just the best. The. Best. And Damon's ttfn, I was dying.

"Would you like to come in, Elena?" he asks.

She nods, and more tears appear in her eyes. He wraps his arm around her and hugs her anyway. Maybe it's dangerous, maybe it's not, but all that matters is his sister needs him. "It's gonna be okay," he says, squeezing her tight.
BRB, I've got something in my eye.

"To forget," she answers, her tone wistful, her eyes diving into the bottom of

I'll be honest: Damon is always funny, but that TTFN might be my favorite thing he's ever said in all the time I've written him. Just, LOLOL. Why so funny, bb?

Poor Elena, she's really having a tough time of it. I loved her getting into with Caroline though--all those things they've never said that lie between them, the petty jealousy and the awareness of the petty jealousy...ugh. It was just epic in the moment. I feel like they should get their own sub-fic. Maybe when I finish this, I'll move on to girl-mance fics. ;-)

Your characterizations are all just perfectly spot-on, bb!! Every single person in your story feels exactly to me as they do in the show. This all feels very much just like an extension of the show.

My favorite part in this chapter was Jeremy realizing how well Damon knows Elena and that he is absolutely the only choice for who can help Elena the best.

Also enjoyable was Damon watching the girl fight for a few minutes because it's a turn on for him :P

I can't wait to see what's coming next ...

The Caroline/Elena smack-down might be my favorite part of the whole story thus far...I didn't see it coming at first, but then it just hit me that Caroline's motivation had nothing to do with vampire *rules* and it just happened in a great dramatic fashion. Plus Damon being a lech is always fun. :D

I'm glad you're enjoying it. I've certainly been enjoying writing it and intend to get back to it very soon.

"I would start with a big-ass apology," Damon says, as they pull up in front of the house. Jeremy gives a him an oh, really? look and Damon concedes, "If I were you, I'd start with a big-ass apology.

LOL, you. I read the first sentence, I started to think of a polite way of suggesting to you that this doesn't seem quite right, and then Damon did all the work for me XD. Now I'm laughing at myself.

OMG, Jeremy invites Elena in! Huh, I probably shouldn't be reading your story to avoid inspirations, because I also have a "Jeremy invites Elena in" scene in mine O_O. Luckily, I already wrote it.

"As completely arousing as this is," he says in a loud voice to combat their squeals and grunts, "I'm gonna have to break it up."

Damon, take your mind off the gutter for once ;).

From the top of the stairs, they hear Caroline mutter, "You're disgusting, you know. As completely arousing as this is... Ugh, so gross."

I love how everyone--Jeremy, me, you, we're all DAMON WOULD NEVER APOLOGIZE! Hee. For the record, he did apologize to Elena for killing Jeremy. I just rewatched 2x03 the other day.

I don't think Jeremy inviting Elena in is someone's lone idea--besides, he's the only one who can, it's canon! *uses appropriate icon*

Damon's such a lech. He's also trying to be distracting. He is good at both. :D

He also apologized to Elena in 2x22 :). Which is my favorite Damon apology ever, because it's a perfect depiction of Damon's attitude towards apologizing. "I don't deserve your forgiveness, but I need it." Damon thinks that apology isn't really for the victim, it's how the guilty party makes themselves feel better. His apologies are selfish, and he's well aware of that. In most cases, he also thinks that he doesn't deserve to apologize.

Uh, you'll see what I mean with the invitation when I post my story. We just seem to have a very similar idea of Elena's future relationship with her brother :). It's about the way they feel and interact with each other.

Oh, Damon. I like his apology at the end of 2x22, too, because that one is for both of them. :D But yeah, I get Damon's angle, as pig-headed as it is. If you're going to be a impulsive, knee-jerk reacting fool, you need the ability to properly apologize.

Yay for Jeremy and Elena \o/ I can't wait to see it!

I really enjoyed this chapter and especially Jeremy's take on everything. Loved how he related to and dealt with Elena. Am really enjoying the brother-vibe you're building between him and Damon because that boy needs a good male influence in his life.

It figures that Stefan would confide in Caroline and that she would be blindly loyal to whatever BS Stefan's selling. Caroline is so judgemental and annoying plus i agree with Elena she's jealous. Really liked Elena's reaction and the girl fight. Plus Jeremy's understanding of the DE relationship is spot-on. Can't wait to see the sibling's conversation and I wonder how long it will be before Elena seeks out Damon. Thanks for sharing.

Jeremy has a fun perspective, I agree. He's very practical, as a boy in his situation would have to be, to deal with the very extreme circumstances he finds himself in. But he's also looking for viable solutions, and being proactive, and that's cool. And he and Damon having a bromance warms my heart :D

I do think Caroline is loyal to Stefan for pretty important psychological reasons--one, Damon abused her and hurt her, and Stefan helped her and strengthened her during a really difficult time. But she still has her foibles, and she would definitely not like Elena snacking on Matt!
