Hmmm. I generally try to avoid human!Damon fics, but if it was presented as a problem, not as God's gift, it could be interesting! Damon said he missed being human, but the reality is, he would hate every second of it. Or, at least, that's the reality inside my head ;).

I've sort of been telling myself that I have to see how S3 ends up

That might be a good idea. I've been pondering about TVD bigbang for months, and I even have an idea, but I'm not deciding until the finale happens.

The fic I wrote where he was turned human at the end was one of those things I didn't see coming until it was upon me. And it was pre-2x10, when The Sacrifice and The Curse and all that was still highly interpretable. I find that I like to use canon stuff as much as possible, so since he didn't confess his whole missing being human business until 2x12, I've never quite had a plot bunny that went that direction with him since.

But yes, I agree. He thinks he misses it, but it's just because things were simple then and he didn't have to choose to not be monstrous. So I think it would be fun to explore, for sure. Besides, learning to be powerless after 150 years of that kind of power? WTF? Talk about serious adjustment issues! Plus, it might give room to delve into the 1860s and the war, and we discussed last week, there is so much unexplored there!

Yeah, the disempowerment would be incredible to explore! Hmmm, you think his PTSD would bounce back? I had a theory that he swept in under the rug when he came to MF in 1864, but come transition, come poor impulse control - KABOOM! So if I were to write about Damon's PTSD, my first instinct would be to go for 1870s, and then 1920s, when shell shock became a sort of an experience of the generation. How do you think it would work if Damon was turned human now? I mean, if you don't mind me asking; I'll understand if you say you don't like to discuss your fic ideas in such detail :).

Also, since it's a HET big bang, I assume you're thinking of D/E? Which is kind of fascinating too, because, while becoming human is a huge thing for Damon as a character, it doesn't change much in his relationship with Elena?

Specifically with Elena, I think it would be great fun if at first both of them think HEY BEST IDEA EVAH! and then slowly come to the same conclusion: they both like Damon better as a vampire, but they're afraid to admit it. This is the issue, though, always with writing something that long, I never know exactly what they'll do. I have an idea, but often through the process they take me some place I didn't expect. Elena is still very much in that mindset of "what people think" that is typical for her age, and for someone who has always been a people pleaser. It might be fun to release her from that cage ( ... )

I would obviously read this, but I can see a human!Damon thing working very well if done correctly. Tbh, I always thought that's what the Sun and Moon curse was going to be: kill the doppelganger and vampires/werewolves become human, which is why everyone was so desperate for it.

I signed up for 2, one TVD and one Game of Thrones. Clearly I've given up having any sort of real life.

What's your TVD plot bunny, may I ask?

That's where I ended up going when I plotted it further--that's why I wrote the one fic where that was the result of the curse being broken. I remember feeling like it was kind of controversial at the time because it didn't occur to me until I was writing, and then I was like, OOOOOHHHHH, HUMAN!DAMON! I WANTS IT!

In a nutshell? "The 7 Deadly Sins of Elena Gilbert."

Elena is a vampire (because, really, how else is this story going to end up?) and each section is a vignette of her life as a vampire with 7 other vampires - Stefan, Damon, Katherine, Elijah, Klaus, Caroline and Alaric - with a corresponding sin as a theme.

Wrath - Klaus
Greed - Elijah
Sloth - Alaric
Pride - Katherine
Lust - Damon
Envy - Caroline
Gluttony - Stefan

Is it sort of INCREDIBLE that those themes fit each of those characters so PERFECTLY? Shut up.

*grabby hands* I want to read this fic! This would be soooo much fun. I'm so interested in seeing how Elena would react to a newly human Damon. I feel like she might have stars in her eyes over a Damon with a clean slate, one who doesn't have the urge to snap and kill people. And, of course, Damon would insist, to Elena's amusement, that he's still dangerous. But on the other hand, Damon's bad boy swagger is sexy, so I kind of love the idea of Elena missing the vampire side of Damon. *shrug*

In short, YES PLS.

The idea that Elena would miss those things about Damon is totally pressing on my brain--because let's get real, she fell in love with Vampire version, not the other one. And remember Katherine saying she likes Vampire!Damon better? It's so RIGHT THERE. Gosh, the more I think about it, the more I love it.

I've read a few human!Damon fics and love the idea! I especially think that you could do human Damon & Elena justice. There's just something innately appealing to me to read how they would interact without the supernatural magnification of emotions.

Also, I tend to prefer canon stories as opposed to AU, so love that you'd be incorporating your idea into a canon environment.

In case this is at all unclear to you ... YES, PLEASE (with a cherry on top ;)

Yes, I love this idea! There really aren't that many fics out their about Damon turning human and it always surprised me. I think it's something that would make for a really interesting read. I even tried to write a oneshot about this myself, but of course it never got finished ( ... )

Yes, assuming the danger wasn't over in their lives it could be problematic on a practical level, but even ruling that out, there are just all these habits and instincts that would have to be curbed, and I don't know if Damon could really do that. It would be a lot of fun to explore.

Thanks for your thoughts, it definitely helps the juices flow too!
