Yes, I love this idea! There really aren't that many fics out their about Damon turning human and it always surprised me. I think it's something that would make for a really interesting read. I even tried to write a oneshot about this myself, but of course it never got finished.
But I can see it how he would find it to be a problem. I have always imagined it feeling like he got vervained, but it doesn't go away in a few hours. He has to adjust the fact that moving and picking things up isn't as effortless anymore. Without all the super vampire strength he was used to, I could see him having a difficulty even standing up since he hasn't felt the weight in over a century. He wouldn't have any of his vampire scenses or speed, he'd get sick, wouldn't be able to hold his liquor AT ALL and get a hangover in the morning. Gosh, he would be horribly miserable. Plus, what would really anger him is the fact that protecting Elena would definitely be much more difficult.
If you do choose to write this, I can't wait to see what you envision! I would be excited to read it. :)
Yes, assuming the danger wasn't over in their lives it could be problematic on a practical level, but even ruling that out, there are just all these habits and instincts that would have to be curbed, and I don't know if Damon could really do that. It would be a lot of fun to explore.
