Gosh, how dare I review something??

Okay, first... i love this comm. I just joined and instantly wondered "where have you been all my life." this may be my first, but is certainly not to be my last post.

Okay, so I've found Trip Advisor to be a useful site for reading and writing reviews of places i've been, especially here in Orlando where you are just as likely to get a really ( Read more... )

annoying formatting is annoying, op *obviously* smarter than us all, no one cares it's your first time, bar/public house, bitter: party of you, defensive much?

Whether or not it was the owner, that was a reasonably defensive response to your review. It wasn't rude at all. Sure, it wasn't a bend-over-backwards-and-kiss-some-ass kinda reply, but it's a locally owned neighborhood pub. They don't depend on kissing ass to keep their customers, they depend on good prices and atmosphere.

The pub can't rectify a situation they are unaware of, which is what that person (agreed, likely not the owner) made the suggestion that you should have said something to the bartender. At the very least, if they can't change out the keg, they can offer you a substitute or a refund.

IDK, though- your review came off a bit condescending, especially compared with other reviews of the place. I can see why one of its other patrons might be moved to defend it, in light of the glowing reviews left by others.

Being easily offended by just about everything, I can say that I don't understand at all why that comment got under your skin.

It's sad that you are so comforted by canned responses like "WE strive to make every customer's experience as great as possible. Let us make it up to you."

They're a local pub, they aren't McDonald's. You don't get coupons because you ran and posted a review about a flat beer instead of letting the bartender know.

Aside from the fact that you really did over-react....

You absolutely *can* fix a flat keg. You simply hook up a new one. Or you offer your customer another drink, comp the beer, or a multitude of options. You not speaking to the bartender denied the restaurant the opportunity to 'make good' by you.

If it was my bar or even one I frequented often, you would get the exact same response from me.

Final verdict? No bad service, on both counts.

I think your response was a little over-the-top to be perfectly honest. Their reply was weird and unnecessary, but .. not enough for you to take it so personally.
