Gosh, how dare I review something??

Okay, first... i love this comm. I just joined and instantly wondered "where have you been all my life." this may be my first, but is certainly not to be my last post.

Okay, so I've found Trip Advisor to be a useful site for reading and writing reviews of places i've been, especially here in Orlando where you are just as likely to get a really bad meal as a really decent one due to the massive comings-and-goings of the tourist trade, which is catered to by crap food and bad service with impunity, since the establishment will never have to see them again. it's awful (le sigh over my life trying to find decent eats in Orlando.. but i digress).

So, there's a place down the road where we've been on a few occasions for drinks and such. it's a pub. it's tiny, cramped, and kinda cozy feeling if you're not terribly concerned with authentic. My husband is a recent British transplant and gets homesick, so we try to find places that make him feel at home.

So we go to this place, and here's my review (it's the one at the top, labeled "Great Pies!" by Tronochick- me)

not too bad right? i mean, it wasn't harsh or anything.

So like a week after posting the review I get this email in my Tripadvisor inbox:

Re: BEER PRICES
IF you check you will find that the Claddagh has one of the cheapest 20oz pints in town. Plus if your beer was flat you should have let the bartender know so they could fix it.

I thought that was f-ing rude. Ummno i'm not going to "check" your prices, A. that's your job and B. I already did, which is why I commented about it. Also, what I "should" have done is irrelevant to serving (and charging me for) a sub-standard product.

So I replied:

Re: BEER PRICES

you can't fix a flat keg. if that's the way you serve it, there's nothing that can be done by repouring a single pint. and perhaps your price on Guiness is cheaper but we were drinking cider, which i've found elsewhere for less.

sorry my review isn't to your liking but it's not exactly going to make me want to come back by attacking my criticisms, which are valid.

usually a response by a business owner should be something like "sorry you had a poor experience, we strive to make every customer's experience as great as possible. give me your name and i'll leave it at the bar and we'd be happy to give you a reason to update your review!"
too bad. i live within stumbling distance and would have come back again. not now.

I never got a response.... I suppose my not-so-valuable business wasn't worthy of a mea culpa.
ugh. rude! needless to say, we aren't going back.

annoying formatting is annoying, op *obviously* smarter than us all, no one cares it's your first time, bar/public house, bitter: party of you, defensive much?
