Keeping something that has offended people in your app because you are "offended" that your actions and words have consequences someone else was offended... is a huge dick move.

You are 100% right. Man. :/

Exactly. I know at least one other player found it potentially problematic, too.

Glad to hear it, because she just got someone else to jump on me and call me horrible and accuse me of bringing whining about my personal issues into RP.

...I am the mod, goddamnit. If anyone has the right to go based on what offends them, it's the motherfucking mod.

LOL "huge dick move"

but yeah, agreed. Also the player's reaction tells me you have a whiny drama llama on your hands.

Why do I get the feeling that "IC" for this person means "chance to be an asshole without repercussions"?

Yeah, to be honest, I'm always wary about this particular character when apped by anyone - he tends to be an excuse to RP AWESOME ASSHOLE WHO DOESN'T CARE ABOUT ANYONE AND TROLLS EVERYTHING, when really he's a bit of an unlovable loser.

...An unlovable loser who I like that way, goddamnit.

o_O Should I start making guesses about who this character is, based on the surfeit of Homestuck icons plus that description?

Pff. Different fandom entirely, actually, although if someone was describing a Homestuck troll has having 'five meters of awesome' I'd be even more confused and wonder what their headcanon on troll biology was like!

first: love the icon and username, they made my night.

second: It totally sounds like the player has an attitude problem. :/ What's so wrong with respecting a simple request for alterations to be made?

Hee, thanks! It's an RP account I'm trying to get off the ground, but for the moment it makes a good sock account. The Marquise is clearly the best solution for RP annoyances.

Well, you see, I OFFENDED them after... they... offended me first. So, you know, I must be fought.

You can't ever go wrong with her! :D Precious pirate. <3

Tough titties, I say to that! Mods exist for a purpose, and I'd say you were doing your part right. You wanted to avoid a potentially transphobic(and as a transman, I think you so much for that) situation and acted accordingly. If they don't want to be respectful, boo to them. :[

Hell yeah pirates!

Thank you for the reassurance! Her friend jumped me saying I had driven off a trans* player by being overly defensive, so it helps. (Funnily enough she changed her tune from DON'T DEFEND ISSUES THAT DON'T AFFECT YOU to DON'T DEFEND ISSUES THAT DO AFFECT YOU when I brought up the fact that I don't quite fit the binary...)

Fun, I created an account to be able to rant about this same problem ( ... )

Ahh... Just ... out of the blue, here, why is the length of someone's "pure awesomeness" offensive to transgendered people? I don't know about you, but when I play a man (in person) I have no problem with the amount of sock I stuff, and yes, that differs from instance to instance, but it certainly doesn't bother me if someone else's sock is bulgier. (I may be impressed, but yanno, married.)

It's a stupid thing to put in your profile, I mean, I'd seriously question someone who added their willy size to an application, but if it was a joke, and it looked like a joke, then really, what's the issue?

The problem wasn't the length, the problem was the statement that the existence of said length 'proved' that he was male. One doesn't need any proof in the form of sexual organs for their gender, and the implication bothered me as someone who lacks even an inch but still feels male pretty often.

No, you are not in the wrong.

What is his problem again? If he really needed to have it in his app that his is has a huge dick then I am sure there would be another part where he could have added that with out being offending.

It's a fandom meme that's rather popular (not specifically "male because [length]", just "he has [length]") - but yeah, there might've been other fields for it. And honestly, I'm tired of the joke.

bedintrudersock April 2 2011, 07:53:07 UTC
It was merely a joke quoting a meme from the fandom. As stated on another comment, I couldn't care less about penis sizes OOC. It never crossed my mind anyone would get offended by that meme, if I knew it would I certainly wouldn't use it. But I need a bit more of an explanation than what was first stated to really get what I did bad there, since once again I never considered it to be potentially offensive, especially not to transgendered people.

So if you knew it would be offensive you'd never have posted it, but when you were told it was offensive you didn't?

What?
