You guys are an impartial lot, can you tell me what I did wrong? Cause I can't figure it out. This is a Pern game, and the names have been changed. Lucy is the admin's character, and Eve is mine. There are two others involved here, but as you can see, it was me and the admin that had the difficulty. I haven't received a reply from admin yet, ( Read more... )

*tsks* Oh, you... You. Haven't you learned yet that Pern is supposed to be happy sunshine and fluffy bunnies all the time? You've been there long enough to know that there should NEVER be strife between characters! Why, that's just not realistic, and certainly not good roleplay!

Lord help me if admin ever finds that thread where my bronzerider took great pleasure in stabbing someone to death. XD

Chuckles. I guess F'lar liked to shake Lessa because he got off on the power trip then??

If there is no conflict/drama the story gets boring very very quickly.

That's an admin? Effing A. I think it's time to search for a new game.

Ditch this game. Go find greener pastures. This kind of grief is not worth the ulcer.

After reading the follow-up I found this post... and I'm agog at the notion that a goldrider would be considered "future staff and service people." One of the first things we saw in the actual books was how inept many of the women paired with the queens -- Kylara, Jora, several of the Oldtimers in particular -- could be and still have high enough rank to order everyone else in the weyr around to suit their whims.

If the RP is set pre-Final Fall (the era of F'lar and Lessa) then it's set in the middle of a feudal system in which a goldrider has instant high ranking simply for riding a gold. If it's set contemporary to or after the Final Fall, the goldriders might reasonably be in a position to need to earn their ranks but you'd think that sort of thing would happen before they were even allowed to stand on the hatching grounds. They had their flamethrower corps and, after the ships and Aivas were located, they had some high tech on their side, too. There was never a period in which queenriders were assigned make-work or drudgework ( ... )
