This particular RPer was my first and by FAR the worst. Then again, I was in what, maybe 6th grade and I found "him" on Neopets, so of course this would be my worst experience.
Just met him on NP. Didn't do a terrible amount of RPing with him on there but when I did it was in the RP section? Whatever they called it. It was mostly through AIM. I still remember his s/n oddly enough.
I'll bet this person is a teenage girl. Despite all the douchery, one thing I must give them credit for is not doing the classic thing teen girls do when trying to pass off as a 'hot guy' online, which is taking a picture of themselves and actually thinking they can pass off as being a boy (always a gay boy, too). Posting a pic of a jrock band is lame and kind of stupid, but at least the person had the brains not to post a pic of themselves and say they're a guy.
They could be a boy, sure. Gut from my experience, I highly doubt they are. This person sounds exactly like many girls I met online who claim to be boys.
This is so much of why I used to cross-examine the heck out of people about their ages when they'd try to get into the adult RPG channels I was involved with. Because as much as kids may think they are ready for that stuff, and want to be part of it, it's generally a mindfuck for them. I'm sorry you went through all that. I don't blame you -- I tried to get into all kinds of things I was too young for, too -- but I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way why those barricades are supposed to be there.
This person actually sounds like an online predator. We had to boot one much like him/her out of the GEnie chat area I helped mod (SO LONG AGO) and she had this nasty habit of reeling in the young teens/preteens and just... manipulating them like crazy and leaving them with so much psychic scar tissue it was unbelievable. I haven't thought about her in years, but this asshole sounds just like her.
The adult stuff wasn't as much of a mindfuck as the metric shit tons of emotional and verbal abuse from a person you considered a friend and thus, wanted approval from. Even as an adult (22) now I still have issues with letting go of people deemed to be toxic, because it's in my nature to cling to the good and try to dismiss the negative as much as possible. In short: had I been older then, I still would have ended up getting hurt, though I definitely would NOT have let it go on for years.
Now I'm not saying guys don't get to this level of manipulative (some certainly do), but I tend to agree with the others that this is behavior characteristic of a spoiled rotten "but daddy I wanted a pony" princess.
Some people make attention whoring an art form. This one appears to have made it their profession.
I guess I play in all the "wrong" (or right? ;) ) places, because I've never observed stalky male players. Not in that sense, anyway. There was one male player who was almost OCD-like obsessed with little nitpickyish things that other players did. Not exactly "stalky" in the generally accepted sense, though they too cannot keep OOC and IC separate to save their lives. On the other hand I've seen at least two female players that do exactly what it says on the tin.
