No, it isn't technically against the rules to pop in out of nowhere, kill someone randomly with the excuse of a 'evil personality', suddenly get control back, run away, and switch to a new character so no one can come after you IC...

But it's still a bitch move.

multiple personality fail

o_O It should be against the rules. Especially if it's a one-hit kill. WTF.

It should be. We've actually been working on something to make...nearly every part of that impossible lately. It just isn't finalized yet.

Of course, I'm still trying to convince the other admin that we need a 'if a player does something REALLY obnoxious we can ban them for a while for it' rule.

Every chat room I've been to lately has had a catch-all "don't be a dick" clause, though the administrator still has to call if it counts. It's both a benefit and a burden, because of how much and little it covers.

On the other hand, I imagine making individual rules covering parts of bad behavior could get kind of daunting after a while. It'd be nice if you could honor good behavior in general in one fell swoop, though getting wordy is called for, in cases like this.

It's a fairly large RP forum, so we have some pretty thick rules topics. We prefer having well set out rules, because we have a playerbase that tends to protest anything too vague. This does mean any given general offense only even happens once, and anything we can think of is covered, but the drawback is that we can't impose the rules retroactively.

Godmodding isn't against the rules?

It is. It's just ridiculously hard to prove in a lot of cases. It is genuinely part of his character to do something like that, it's mostly the swapping characters after that's irksome.

Genuinely part of his character or not, killing someone else's character without asking them is godmodding and, I would think, provable. :O

Eh, we run off a d20 for battle stats, so while the ambush itself is probably, our battles are all modded by an OOC third party.

Could make it something like "If you avoid playing a character to avoid consequences of your actions..."

I'm trying to get something very similar to that put in place, and for what it's worth a couple of the other admin agree with me. We just need to make the wording clear and unambiguous.

Oh, granted on that. Honestly I could see that if someone didn't play a character for a week just because someone my try to twist the rule at them or something. The honest situation here is you're trying to ensure that ICA have ICC. Honestly people did that same at a VtM LARP I went to... so I didn't play much there. When someone brings a character in, kills 3 people, then suddenly says character has left the city you grow not too fond of things...

This sounds alot like a certain Naruto RPG that has had problems with people doing this shit and ambiguous rules abound since day one. If it still hasn't been fixed yet, Something needs to be done about it, like oh, I dunno, If they switch to a different character they forfeit any sort of control rights to that char. and should the admin believe he be killed for his transgressions... Make it happen.

I mean really, people who runs these sites need to tell people "split personalities are okay, but a character is held responsible no matter what. You be a dick, you get destroyed.". I mean fucking hell everyone knows that the only reaon people make these kinds of characters on forum RPs is for an excuse to be a dick to people they dislike OOC.

What a coincidence, this is a Naruto RPG...

Yeah, we're just trying to clear up the wording on a ruling that works for it, really.

Good to know something is being done about it. I happen to remember a certain dick in Mist village with Sharingan being quiiite a pain in the ass for most people. =__=;

...are we potentially talking about the same place? We had an Uchiha running around for a while in Mist who was being a pain until the Mizukage took him out.
