I saw a Red-Tailed Hawk building a nest on the front of one of the buildings on the University of Pittsburgh campus. I want to get better ones soon. :)
I'm wondering if there will be chicks. We have a couple near my house but I've never found a nest. Seeing one in such an open place is awesome. There are lots of squirrels, rats and birds to be had in the area so I'm not surprised by the choice of locations.
What is that metal structure the bird is perching on? a kind of decoration or emblem for the building?
Off on a tangent here, but it ticks me off that humans build structures that have perfect nesting locations and then get mad when birds use them. *Of course* the space between the air conditioner and the window frame is just the right size for a sparrow's nest! *g*
It's a piece of metal statuary. I don't know what exactly it is supposed to be but it has always looked like Jesus with his arms outstretched with the world behind him.. as an emblem of healing all. I could be wrong.
