I'm about your size with a 15 lb 5 month old and could never make the Ergo work. I traded it for a Pikkolo and have been very happy. I've only used it for front carries - for back carries I like using a woven for a ruck tied Tibetan - but it fits so much better than the Ergo.

If you're about my size, what size woven wrap do you need for that carry? Do I need the biggest size?

I can ruck TT in a 5, but juuust barely. A 6 is perfect, and a 7 is a little too long. I'm 5'4" and stupidly busty, so you might be able to get away with a 5 if you aren't quite as chesty as I am. A 6 is a nice all-purpose length, though!

I'm your size or a little bigger (18/20, plus am very generous in the chest area) and I LOVE my Beco. HATED the Ergo. The Ergo was super uncomfortable, but a Beco fits me wonderfully and I have no trouble making it work for back carries. My husband frequently leaves the chest clip undone and has no trouble with the carrier moving around, but I prefer to clip it because it pulls the weight to a better place on my shoulders and feels more secure.

I have both an Ergo and an O&A. The O&A is much more generously sized than the Ergo. I needed the extended strap with the Ergo but the O&A fit fine. My husband could even wear the O&A just as it is and he's a big guy. I LOVED my O&A. So comfy, I recommend it to everyone and they've always been pleased after buying the O&A. I could wear my son who was a toddler and over 30 pounds on my front for several hours with little discomfort. I had to switch to back carries when he was little b/c he was so heavy and it was hard on my back with the Ergo. The O&A was much nicer on my back.

I tried an Olives and Applesauce but I'm plus size and it wasn't a great fit on me, I do like the Boba. My coworker LOVES her Olives and Applesauce, it's so soft. I hate my ergo and just sold it this week.

I know the babywearing groups in my area have a lending library, it might be an idea to look for one in your area!

Oh, believe me, I'd know if there was one in my area, and there's not, and no one around here has even heard of O&A. No one I know has a Beco or Boba, either. I thought Boba was for toddlers?

It definitely seems like the Ergo is out of favor with the curvy ladies these days.

I've heard the boba is good for toddlers, but it works with my 9 month old too. He's about 20 lbs. My work website says that it works from 15-45lbs.

I still don't feel 100% comfortable in it, because I feel like structured carriers do such a good job of showing off my fat, but I feel like it's a comfortable carrier for me. I haven't tried it with a back carry yet. I think a woven wrap like a girasol is the way I probably need to go.

The Boba is for children 15-45lbs. I just got one to use with my 4 month old. We haven't tested it out yet though.

I'm somewhere between a 14-18 and like my O&A. My favorite older-kid carrier that you might want to give a shot is the Babyhawk OhSnap!, though--it's BH's buckle carrier. The hip belt is more adjustable than anything on the market and fits really comfortably on my well-padded hips (LOL), and the chest belt is designed in a way that spreads the weight nicely over my over-large bust. The back is REALLY tall, too, making it GREAT for leaners. I LOVE LOVE my OS!!

I've heard nothing but great things about the Oh Snap, and will consider it if she still likes being worn as a toddler.

It's kind of a "toddler" carrier in the same way a Boba is a toddler carrier. I don't recommend it for babies that aren't at least 6 months AND 15 lbs (unlike the Boba, which can be one or the other), but it's a great carrier. :-)
