But in #11, Kristy's family pays extra so the Thomas children don't have to transfer to Kelsey. So SMS isn't the only public high school either.

Oh, right. Doesn't Charlie or Sam say that Watson and Elizabeth paid for Kristy and DM to go to Stoneybrook Schools, bt it doesn't matter for Sam and Charile because there is only one high school. I remembered it wrong the first time. :)

For some reason, I was thinking that Stoneybrook Day had a high school too.

I would assume, in the absence of contradictory canon, that SDS is a thirteen- or fourteen-grade school, unless it had its own specific private high school. I can't see why you'd pay for your kid to go to private school for nine years, only to feed them into a public high school.

A lot of people here have sent children to Catholic school through grade 8 and then public HS- though I agree that it's a crazy thing to do.

A lot of people do that - many of the kids I knew in middle school and high school had gone to private schools. It depends on how good the available public schools are.

Yeah, that's true. I went to an independent school that served as the "local high school," and quite a few of the kids came from private backgrounds. But public education seems to be pretty good in Stoneybrook (a la Stacey), so it seems unlikely to me.

At any rate, cassandraclue confirmed that SDS does have a high school level.

shannon is the only eighth grader in the astronomy club. all of the other kids are high school students. so sds definitively has a high school.

SHS was the only public high school, although there were multiple middle schools (hence the SMS and Kelsey thing) and I do believe Graduation Day mentions that even kids from outside Stoneybrook will be coming to SHS. But SDS was private, and was K-12.
