There's a new subdivision in my town of Chapel Hill, Tennessee. Guess what? Its called Stoney Brook! I freaked the first time I saw the sign.

I was watching Ugly Betty last night with my mom (who's the biggest fan, I might add), and I'm not paying that much attention to the show, but I look up when I hear Wilhelmina (spelling?) say 'Stoneybrook'. I immediately started freaking out and saying:

I am participating in an RPG (and a lot of the characters end up being people I have to google to figure out who they are.)

Anyway, look at some of the names the 8th graders have: Emily Bernstein, Erica Blumberg, Grace Blume, Heather Epstein, Alexander Kurtzman.  The names sound Jewish frankly. So is Abby the only Jewish person that Stoneybrook (as ( Read more... )

I realized something when rereading a BSC book recently. None of the children in Stoneybrook are involved in Scouting! that's kind of odd since there is such a strong 1960s influence on the series as a whole (Beatles, I Love Lucy, sitting clients going to cocktail parties...) it's easy to imagine Kristy, Dawn, and Mary Anne as Girl Scouts. I was looking through the Complete Guide for a random fact, and I found myself looking at the map in the back. Now, the map is a bit crowded to fit in every place ever mentioned in Stoneybrook, but I noticed something. Stoneybrook Day School is on McLelland Road.
