“I love you” he had whispered while he’s making love to you tonight. For the first time.
Long ago you were so scared he wouldn’t want you the same way you wanted him. But he did. And you gave yourself to him. Completely. You’ve always been all his.
Tonight, even if your head is lying in the hollow of his shoulder his arms aren’t in the small of your back as they should be.
You hurt him. You didn’t answer him. Words are dangerous, not reliable. You looked away when he was searching for something to cling to in the blue of your eyes. Eyes are traitors, the window of one’s soul.
“I’m sorry, I can’t” you barely whispered listening to his sleeping breathing.
You can’t fall in love. You can’t tell him you’re falling in love a little more every day. You can’t say those murderous words. You can’t claim him.
You’re his, always will be. But he has to be free. He can’t be yours, never should be. You know that feeling, you’re aware of that poison flowing in your veins. If he was yours you’ll never let him go, you’d keep him jealously for yourself, all of him just for your selfish eagerness.
His hand gently pets your hair. You like nothing more than his hand in your hair.
“I never asked for a lie” he whispered back, his voice as warm and gentle as ever.
He just doesn’t understand and your mouth is sealed to protect your angel from the horrible person you know you are. But your lips found his before you can think about it and you kissed him as if your life depended of it, as if tomorrow would never come, and you shouldn’t have believed your body to be stronger than your heart because it wanted nothing more than to claim the warmness of that boy, your boy, the one you should never say those words.
And when you claim him, he’ll be yours. And then words will be meaningless because you’ll never let him go. Christmas Eve should be all about giving and not taking. You want to give everything to him and not take anything from him.
“Don’t…” you nearly cried when his body trembled under yours. But your vicious and eager tongue already was drawing simple patterns on the white skin of his belly, the words you’ve forbidden yourself to say aloud.
When you heard him laugh you had to bite him. This wasn’t funny; this was the end of the word. The end of his freedom. He’ll be yours soon enough and Reid Garwin doesn’t share, not a bit
