Chlollie Fanfic: Slingshot, Chapter 2

Aug 10, 2009 17:47

I have been reliably informed that what I call a catapult, y'all call a slingshot.  So I've renamed the title, and have edited chapter one to reflect that as well.

Bah.  maybe I'll just get a beta next time!

Here's more.  Enjoy!  Awesome banner by geek_or_unique .  Thanks, babes!

Super cute story: tough fighting Chloe and the beginnings of the Green Arrow hero.

Loved every line.

(don't forget now...five chapters or more...)

Okay. You just nail the descriptiveness here. Just from this short paragraph I can just picture the action. "By this time the man had reached the red car and was fumbling in his pocket. Oliver distinctly heard the jangle of car keys, and knew he was running out of time. He narrowed his eyes and focused on the target, pulling the sling as taut as it would go. Then he released it and sent the stone whistling through the air." It just makes me think of some of the scenes with GA pulling the bowstring back and sighting in on a target.

It's just destiny to see him instinctively react to help. It really builds a back-story to how he winds up becoming the GA. I don't think they explored that enough.

And, I love your young Chloe too. She so precocious and a fighter already. I found her actions completely in character for how I'd picture her, especially having that sense of humor.

*grins* Well spotted, babes. That was my template for the scene! :-D

They certainly didn't. There was nothing in Reunion that hinted at his future destiny. I guess if your name isn't Clark Kent or Lois Lane on this show, they don't really bother with your onscreen development. Ah, well. Their loss!

The fact that he couldn't just stand there, the way he improvised with what he had on hand when he realized that he couldn't physically get there in time, and the way he kept a clear head about trying to check the car and license plate and collecting the hat were all like watching these little pieces of who he is capable of growing up to be show how deeply rooted in him they are.

Young Chloe being a little bit sassy even after the ordeal seems spot on to me.

Yup. You are witnessing the birth of a hero, and Chloe was his first save! :-D
