the rest of the week will be better, right?

Charlotte wouldn't sleep last night.  She woke at exactly the same moment Jack climbed into bed.  Coincidence?  Maybe.  I punched him anyway, just because.

Julia wouldn't stay out of our room last night, and wouldn't leave even we asked her and told her to.  Jack finally shoved her out of bed on to the floor.  Not hard, but she got the hint.

I don't deal well with this age as I tend to be accurate with my words and that usually devolves very quickly into an argument how often "never" is. It never plays out well with a child her age.

You'd think I'd learn.

What about a nice long game of hide and seek. She can hide and you can seek her from your chair. *giggle*

Yeah, I try to not get into the "I never get to..." argument. Pointless, really.

As I type this reply, she's leaning on the arms of my desk chair, tapping me on the shoulder, "Mommy? Mommy? I really want to go play at L-'s. Mommy? Mommy...." She's asked me no less than a dozen times in the past 15 minutes and I'm not answering. Not one word. She walks away to watch her movie for 3 minutes, then comes back for another round.

"Mom. Mom. Mommymommymommymommy...." She's back.

Good on you for ignoring her. Spencer and I frequently have a conversation that goes like this:

him: Melia, my hafta take a nap today?
me: Yes.
him: But I don't WAAANNA! I not tired! I not bein' silly!
me:
him: WHYYY my gotta take a nap?
me: Because you do. We're not talking about this anymore.

He may continue the conversation, but I don't.

I need to get that icon!! Cold weather, sleep deprivation and grouch/sassy kids makes for a really crappy day. I chose to go to work. No joke.
Hang in there!

I'd rather be somewhere else today, talking with adults and *not* mopping up body fluids. But I'm here, and I'll survive.

Long winter is right. When my kids were like Julia, I would tell them my ears didn't understand whining. At least I didn't have to put up with Moommmmmmm in ascending and descending tones. Count down to the long weekend being over is on! I feel for ya.

Yes, "I can't hear" whining either, most of the time ;-) Julia has it perfected though, and I can't always ignore it.

she doesn't like me, she doesn't like this house, that she NEVER gets to go anywhere, and that I'm mean.

Oh good lord, if I had a dollar for every time I've heard that (in the past 6 weeks alone!) I'd b e rich enough for a nanny to entertain them. Lets trade kids so they have new crap to throw around the house and wont crab too much bc they don't know the new mama!
