Charlotte's 4th birthday party

This morning was spent doing housework and final preparations for Charlotte's party, and Charlotte's party this afternoon was enjoyed by the 7 adults, 1 teenager, and 11 kids between the ages of 2 months and 9 years.  Lots of joyful noise, food, and laughter!  After supper tonight I went to the first meeting with my friends who are going to Vegas ( Read more... )

I LOVE the giant cupcake pan, it's awesome.. I however couldn't get my frosting to stay on the sides of the bottom in my test run, so I used the candy melts to make a hard side..

That's a cool idea! I made homemade buttercream and it was a bit stiffer than usual so when I piped it on the bottom, it stayed put. And great picture BTW!

How do you make buttercream not taste.. greasy? I usually make whipped cream/cream cheese (it's literally whipped heavy cream, cream cheese, sugar and vanilla.. ) that is pretty sturdy, but slid right off the sides of the giant cupcake!

She devoured that cake, it was hilarious :D

the recipe I use is equal parts real butter and shortening, then icing sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. I add a bit more icing sugar to make it a bit stiffer and it doesn't seem to taste greasy.
