But I am starting to seriously worry about not being able to find something else to do with my life without completing school. Yeah if I took extra years by taking few courses and still working my but off I could do it, but with taking 5 classes or 6 I would still be in school for the next decade+. To slow down that rate and well, I'd never finish ( Read more... )

I wanted to be a vet when I was little. I'd still LOVE to work with animals, but I'm happy in my job in the deli, making food and stuff. You might find something else that you could do that isn't strictly vet work.

Why not look into vet teching? Though I've heard they don't paid exceedingly well, but that friend is in Aussieland, so it might be relative. You could work as kennel staff and do your vet tech work and you don't always have to go to school for it, I think. There's probably a few do-it-at-home courses you could pick from that would work.

Just a thought.

lady, why don't you try going part time? you'll be in school longer, but you'll be able to live in the years that you're there. also, maybe talk to someone at dal and see what you can do to ease your stress? there are options. just be sure to take advantage of them.

seriously, it's not lame and dumb. if you're feeling all the time like you're not in the right situation, MAYBE YOU'RE NOT. You're what, 18 or 19? You have what, 60+ more years to live probably? It wouldn't kill you to take some time off school if it's too overwhelming for you. Or cut down to part time. Talk to some career counselors at your school or something and see if there's anything you can do that could make you happy, but maybe not require as much schooling. of course, I've gone through several career plans since my young childhood, from professional rollerskater (ok I was four!) to artist to novelist to psychologist to band teacher to finally librarian. so i guess i don't know what it's like to have a lifelong dream careerwise. but, don't feel so pressured to keep up with your plan if it's not feeling like it works for you. Step back, take a breather, and figure out your options.
