He'd noticed the human children on his way home, noticed how they seemed a little bit more...bizarre...than human children normally were. Skywarp was changed--and somehow, so was Mikaela. This was widespread, reminding him of Shockwave's handiwork...
...yet the hallmark signs were not present.
Mostly, he was hoping to avoid it, himself. Soundwave had recently returned from vacation, and Megatron had every intention of grilling his communications officer about what 'relaxing' was like.
It had been too long since he'd experienced it, himself.
Entering the main hall of the Hollow, he sagged onto his throne, staring at the empty space the portal had once occupied. Surely, something would go right.
Surely, he was not this terrible at being a war-leader?
Only time would tell.

Now, with no others around, he knew the soft footfalls for what they were.
"Soundwave." He couldn't help but smile, sitting up on his throne and trying to not look like he'd just been sprawled so lazily across it, a moment ago.
"You were just who I was hoping to see. Come join me."

He turned to fix his expressionless gaze on the throne, altering course despite the system warnings. Both a priority and a target, just being around Magnum was more of a conflict than his emotions had ever been. Thankfully, the ever-present mask would disguise his affliction... For the moment, anyway.
"As you command."
He only paused when he reached the foot of the throne, optics fixed intently on the Decepticon leader. Moreso on his throat than his face, but then, the visor hid that just as well the mask did his sharpened dental plating.
"Query: Does Megatron require assistance?"

He hadn't been in trouble in a long time. Dai Atlas had been less severe when he'd brought Drift home, the possible 'contaminant' to Crystal City and all it stood for. He couldn't say he cared for the experience.
He liked even less the fact they were still holding his Great Sword. He felt naked without it, missing the physical weight, and the mental reminder of his obligations. Was he still a Knight without his Sword?
Too restless to go home, not sure he could face Hot Rod or Perceptor right now, he found himself roaming the streets, not even noticing how he didn't blend in--at all--with the crowd of costumed revelers.

It was for that reason that he stuck to the middle zones, just at the edges of ANOSA's jurisdiction. If a mech went missing down there, it could easily be dismissed as the norm... Just another in a long list of missing persons.
Keeping to the shadows, it wasn't hard to spot the neutral. Given their respective relationships with Magnum, it would have been impossible for him not to know of Wing - Though even that knowledge would not save him from his fate. If he was half the warrior that Soundwave heard he was, then his energon should have been enough to quiet the constant growl of hunger for at least a little while.
Masking his energy signature, he followed the Knight from a distance - With the festivities, it wasn't hard to mingle, and hopefully lose himself in the crowd.

Strange creatures. But they were laughing as they ran, even the black furred felid, which was...something. It was good to hear innocent laughter, but it also just seemed to remind Wing how bad things were for himself.
He didn't feel like laughing. No Sword, possibly no job, no real purpose and now more than ever indentured to Magnum?
Noticing someone following him? Unlikely.
He hesitated as he came to a corner, uncertain which way to go. Fantastic: a metaphor.

The absence of his sword was easily picked out, which only reassured Soundwave in his choice. He wouldn't be defenseless, but it was one less obstacle he had to plan around. Then again, when one possessed a gun capable of generating stasis fields... So long as they had the element of surprise, there weren't many obstacles to worry about.
Watching carefully from his spot in the shadows, Soundwave sent a silent ping to Laserbeak. One of the paths was all but deserted farther down - He just needed to coax the Knight into making the correct decision.
Following its master's instruction, Laserbeak sent an anonymous, encrypted distress signal - After all, if Wing was half the hero he seemed to be, it would be hard for him to ignore anyone in danger.

The jet held a long, knife-like finger to his chin, gazing up at the roof of the apartment complex. He'd been very insistent about at least having the top floor and possibly a skylight. Hopefully he wouldn't have to deal with such shoddy living conditions for very long.

There was only one solution, after, of course, taking care of security measures along the perimeter of the tower. And that was to scan the network for more information. That is precisely what Soundwave was doing, as he made his way around the base of his tower, checking the scanners he'd installed. Nothing should be able to get in again. And even if it did, he'd know about it.
He was deeply engrossed in the scans, fine-tuning readouts, and not paying any particular attention to the real world. After all, what in this part of the zone would approach him, given all the time he'd had to terrorize the area into submission?
