Me Grimlock kick butt! king_grimlock August 8 2011, 08:49:37 UTC
It's hard not to notice THAT.

Grimlock knows that gravelly voice well that carries far and wide when Megatron is in full bellowing mode. The giant mecha-beast landing creates a thunderous reverberation and rousts him out of the bar he'd been drinking in.

Charging outward, energo-sword drawn and glowing, he's reminded of Sky Lynx for an astrosecond before he clicks himself into fight mode. Leaping upwards, he clutches the hind leg of the Griffin and starts an upward climb.

Finally! Something to smash!

The Griffin senses the weapon Grimlock is holding and perceives the climbing as it attack. It angrily lets out another burst of fire, unable to twist back and grab the mech. Instead it stomps around, uncaring what it steps on in its attempt to dislodge the offending pest.

Grimlock remains unnoticed by Megatron, who's attention is drawn with amusement towards the destruction he's causing and the approaching Prime.

That causes some serious foothold issues, as that first burst of stomping action nearly sends Grimlock flying off and crashing into something. It's only by the sheer strength of his grip on one hand that he's able to hang on, although his body is slung around to slam into the side of the giant leg before he can get his bearings.

Eventually, that sword is used as an anchor, stabbed into the leg in order to give him a climbing point, scrambling his way up until he manages to reach the hip area...

The Griffin roars its displeasure at being stabbed and twists around, trying to get hold of Grimlock even though it's an impossibility. More fire is sent sideways, hoping to catch the mech off-guard.

As he twists he runs into buildings, scaffolding, anything that's in his way--all in the attempt to remove the annoyance. His hip isn't the area Cliffjumper manages to turn into the glass, that's further up along his side, near his front leg and its leg goes stiff as it slowly reacts to the gas, slowing it's movements.

Wheeljack said it looked ridiculous, an' he wasn't joking... That's the first thing that pops into his head after he searched out the source of the noise, having spent yesterday and today both looking for that Megatron and being in and out of Ratchet's clinic. And now - finally - there'd be something to attack for this mess. It's not Megatron, but this thing needs stopped anyway.

"Th' slag is that thing---" Cliffjumper scowls and pulls out his cannon; at least the giant thing is big enough to hit and still easily avoid Grimlock clambering all over it. He's aware he should probably deploy his jetpack and use the glass gas, but... That's currently not enough.

So, maybe he won't be able to shoot at Megatron, but this is good enough.

Megatron is still gloating, trying to capture the attention of the Prime he's looking for and he might pick up Cliffjumper on his sensors, but ignores him. He's confident The Fortress can handle a lowly, errant Autobot and there's no reason for the Leader of the Decepticons to waste his time offlining Cliffjumper himself.

The Griffin is raging at Grimlock's climbing, stomping around furiously and letting out burst, after burst of cascading fire. It's everywhere in the vacinity at this point--on the nearby buildings, anything that had randomly been lying around by it's feet, all of it's starting to incinerate.

Some is undoubtedly, unknowingly spewed in Cliffjumper's direction.

It is starting to get a bit hot around here, but the minibot gets off another blast from the cannon before he actively has to run out of the way of the streams of fire heading in his direction. And by that time, the surrounding area is pretty well on fire.

Swearing, Cliffjumper turns on his jetpack and takes off from the ground, realizing the extent of the fire when he's in the air. They need something to turn out the fires, but there doesn't seem to be anything obvious around here... To combine looking for something that could mitigate the fires and attack the griffin at the same time, Cliffjumper flies closer and fires off a stream of glass gas before quickly veering off to avoid another burst of fire. Grimlock may get to that area before the gas wears off, if not, not much to do about it.

Megatron takes off into the air to fight with Prime, leaving his Griffin to fend for iteself; he made it hard to take down for a reason.

The Griffin itself is more concerned with Grimlock, than with Cliffjumper but the blast of glass gas hits just above it's shoulder, making it difficult for it move and it's twisting to dislodge Grimlock slows slightly now that it's hampered.

Call out a Prime and you shall receive! ichooseboth August 8 2011, 19:33:26 UTC
So this is what the others were speaking of.

Optimus speed towards the scene, dodging those that were fleeing with eery, familiar ease. He's seen and responded to attacks on citizens all too often at this point...even if it has been a long, long while since their Cybertron had any citizens left to attack.

He took a moment to transform and scale a small building to catch a clear glimpse of the newest weapon of mass destruction, only to freeze and gape at the giant purple...thing once he reached the top. Grandiose, powerful, and absolutely insane... This crazy sort of plan was beyond even his own Megatron's most mad schemes.

But insane or not, it was causing destruction and death easily enough.

Time to play distraction, then. He drew his blaster, leveling a shot at Megatron despite knowing it would probably wouldn't even connect at this distance.

"Leave them be, Megatron!"

All part of his evil plan muhahaha supreme_leader August 8 2011, 20:44:28 UTC
Megatron doesn't care how 'insane' the Griffin may seem. All that's important is that it's doing its job to destroy what it can and frighten the masses. Everyone underestimated him before; this will show them that he's not someone to be ignored.

The blaster shot glances off his armor, barely even enough for him to notice, but he fixates immediately on the one responsible and when he finds it's Prime he regards him with a wide smirk--just who he's looking for.

He takes off in root mode from his perch on The Fortress' head and drifts towards the the Autobot Leader, sparing a glance down at the destruction his creation is causing.

"I don't think so, Prime!" he raises his fusion cannon. "This city is mine!"

...Well. At least now he can get in a better shot?

He re-aims his rifle as Megatron drifts closer, firing rapidly even as he prepares to dodge the inevitable fusion cannon blast.

"This city will never fall to you! You don't even know what you're dealing with here!"

YOU FOOL supreme_leader August 9 2011, 03:00:05 UTC
What gives you a better shot, also gives him one and he doesn't waste any time letting loose a blast from his fusion cannon in your direction. One or two of Prime's shot hit him, glancing blows as he tries his best to avoid them and then flies forward to land on an adjoining building.

"You're wrong Prime! I'll turn you and this city into scrap metal," Megatron raises his fusion cannon again and prepares another shot.

Whatever he'd expected when he warped into the area, it wasn't... well... that. He'd also warped in in the air, so when his engines cut in surprise, he dropped a fair bit before he caught himself and flew to stand on the rooftop of a building not yet burning.

What... Wait, wait, wait. No... Just... Skywarp was thoroughly distracted, but that didn't stop him from shooting off a few blasts from his arm cannons at the two Autobots he could see, but it was half-sparkedly at best; his processor was quite busy trying to make sense of this.

A giant... purple... thing. He thought it was some sort of human mythological creature, but he wasn't sure. Why had Starscream decided this Megatron was suitable to even vaugely follow, again? ... Thinking of Starscream, Skywarp immediately disappeared from the rooftop, warped until he could find the Air Commander, and the brought both of them back to the rooftop ( ... )

Slipstream had been inside the Widow's Cafe Cybertronian, when the GPG began its attack, but news quickly carried from the streets. As others left to help, or gawk at the destruction, She slipped in with the crowd on a skywalk outside. Slipstream made her way toward the smoke and noise. She wasn't exactly looking to put herself in danger, but it usually paid to know where and what danger was.

She arrived on the scene, girly cocktail still in hand, and hovered in a high spot, where a few others were pointing or gawking. It wasn't like she'd expect Airazor to bother arresting her for some kind of unauthorized in-flight refueling, when the Offworlder Zones were under attack.

And the scene was...like some late night Sci-fi movie from Earth.

"It's no batch of Lugnut Supremes," she said, then took a sip from her drink.

Starscream had been doing something -- it might not have been important, but he was still doing something when Skywarp had decided to suddenly pop up and teleport him to the scene.

"Skywarp! How many times have I told you not to do that?! I don't have time for your -- wait. What the slag is that?" The Seeker just stared at the thing. He knew what it resembled, but still.

"Why is he standing on top of a giant, fire-breathing, purple griffin?" Did all Megatrons just go insane after awhile? Who builds a purple griffin as a weapon of choice?

"... I guess this isn't as bad as when our Megatron tried to turn Earth into metal. Anyway. So, wanna make a bet on how long before someone shoots him off there?"

Huh, wasn't that Slipstream..? Skywarp looked over at the purple and teal curvy jet hovering, so he gave her a brief wave before turning to Starscream and scoffing.

"No bet, look-- he's alerady taken off for the Prime over there. And shots glancing off his armour wouldn't count as you winning the bet." Skywarp felt it best to point this out, lest Starscream make some silly pronouncement over having won a bet that hadn't even been agreed upon.

"And no way! Sure, trying to turn Earth into metal and make it the new Cybertron was impressively overblown, but, look. At least it didn't involve giant... is it supposed to be a battle station? Like Trypticon? Anyway, it's purple. And in shape of a griffin. How's that useful?" Since Starscream had so nicely given the name of the creature, Skywarp pretended he'd known it.

Thanks to Wheeljack, they'd had the luck to know that something was coming, but until the moment it actually happened, the details had been sketchy at best. So when the reports had suddenly started coming in, it had been a mad scramble to go to where they were all needed. Messages and alerts were flying back and forth, both across the network in general and over personal and faction channels; Ratchet tried to assimilate as many as he could, but most of it ended up getting shoved aside as he hurried towards the lower zones ( ... )

Wheeljack was still exhausted from lack of restful recharge over an entire deca-cycle's time, but at least he'd finally had his fill of fuel again. Ratchet - both Ratchets - had made sure he'd been well taken care of since getting him back to the clinic last night, for which he was endlessly grateful. But now there was a battle, and he'd be DAMNED if he missed it.

He was at least partly responsible, after all. Ugh.

Thus it was he'd followed when Primaxian Ratchet bolted off after the in-flooding reports. He was torn for a moment between staying with the medic to help coordinate the evacuation and heading off to help deal with fires. No . . . there'd be nowhere to evacuate to if there were no clear paths. He clapped Ratchet on the shoulder for an instant to make sure he had the other's attention. "Gonna see what I can do ta help calm this inferno some, then I'll be back ta help, okay, pal?" He didn't wait for an answer, instead firing the rocket thrusters in his arms and taking to the air. He switched out his left hand for ( ... )
