Ahahaha, I did something similar with my replay notes, although it was less about the 'facts' and more about the theories spawned from the facts.
Some notes:
-Dorian General Vandesdelca Grants ... they actually referred to him by his full name in the game? I always thought it was just 'Van Grants'--the fact that you find out his full name is supposed to be a Big Deal in a sense.
Anyway! A lot of your questions can actually be answered--by reading the novels, comics, and dramas. XD;;;;
So a few things: So question: Is it because Duke Fabre knew his son was destined to die and didn't expect him to return? Or because he trusts Guy enough to only need him to do the searching? A truly concerned father would have sent out everyone available, but I can see Guy, being more or less the one who raised Luke, being trusted enough to take care of it.Nope. It's cause Van volunteered Guy to to do it. This was shown in the Guy gaiden comic. Duke Fabre probably so readily agreed because Van suggested it (implicating that he felt Guy capable

Did Asch piss him off as a kid? It seems a little strange, since Asch was apparently such an inspired young kid. I imagine he was still a little grumpy but... Is it possible Asch didn't value his friendships until after he lost them?
Possibly. In the interview with the director for the game, he said that Guy didn't have much sympathy for Asch (as a child) because Asch was raised to essentially be a future leader. So Asch always acted with the big picture in mind and was pretty much the nobleman. (This is probably why even child!Asch never told Guy thank you, although he obviously regarded Guy as a friend.) So even though Asch was a good person, Guy couldn't sympathize with him (or Natalia) and still regarded them as "your parents are murderers."
When Luke comes along, this helpless kid, Guy opens up. He also opens up with Natalia because she was distressed by "Luke's" loss of memory.
That's what the director of the game says.
-For all that Duke Fabre has a horrible reputation, what with Guy's past and the fact that he

Nope! They don't give you Cecille's either. I just supplement so I can find it when I need it. It's more "I can never remember everyone's goddamn titles".
Oh yaah. I tried to read the Asch thing while I was in Haiti and I couldn't >\ I'll have to get it tomorrow |D
Hm... I'm pretty sure it says "use the first fonon... second fonon" etc with Tear's hymns, but I'll double check when I pick up tomorrow.
his supports the theory that Jade was in fact on Hod during the experiments that took place getting clone data.
This is one of those things I look forward to getting to in the game. I kinda... didn't REGISTER a lot of details, particularly about Jade and Van's pasts and I know there lots of potential fic idea there, or at least great things to think about regarding the character.
you'll actually learn about this later from Asch. Asch wanted it done so he could 'control' and communicate with LukeOooh yah, i remember that

YES. That's why I say I enjoyed the replay more than the initial. Going in, knowing what I do now, so many things are likewhoa, and now it's easier to make connections.
... and that's why I love Van so much. XD;;;;
But yes.
For all that Asch probably believed in doing things for the people, I bet he probably still had a good sense of his 'place' as a nobleman.
Yes. And at the same time, I think Asch as a child was pretty self-sufficient (especially compared to Luke), which probably didn't help gain Guy's sympathy much. (Guy seriously has a 'needy' complex. =() So Guy was simply a servant. I'm sure Asch probably wanted Guy as his friend, but Duty > Self. (I get this impression of him even during game time.)
Which is something I like about ToA, really. Even the people who aren't great doesn't mean they are horrible.YES. =(

Have to confess I didn't read everything; have read the top half. Am saving it up for a weekend or a really bad day to go through all of it, it's precious.
Up on Gamefaqs, there's a battle quotes guide that contains all the quotes for spells, etc, and some combinations of victory quotes/boss battle lines. (I say 'some' because there should be Abyssman victory quotes, or at least there are in the Japanese game, it's listed in the Famitsu Perfect Guide, and IIRC those are missing from the Gamefaqs guide.)
Dist opening Luke's fon slots was at Asch's request, I think, and Asch probably pushed Dist's researcher buttons to get him to comply.
I don't know why Luke isn't told outright that he's a replica by the God Generals. Asch probably wanted to (if only because he wants to hurt Luke really badly), and he could easily have gotten Sync to do it...?
left out some bits, sorry for spam!harajukufuuriJanuary 22 2007, 13:06:45 UTC
Eep, forgot to add to Dist-opening-Luke-fonslots; Asch says later ingame that that was to allow him to control Luke, but I don't remember when/where/how. It's part of (?) a process known as 'Sharing' apparently (Perfect Guide again), and if Asch knew of this (control), then he probably learnt from Dist of a good part of the perfect isofon theory. Alternately, though I just doubt it happened that way, Dist could have suggested it to Asch.
Apparently how Asch died is also thanks to this; he was TOO BUSY TALKING TO THE STUPID REPLICA that he didn't pay attention to his environment. (According to ranchelle, who has the novels I will acquire eventually.) Granted, he was probably grievously wounded by that point, but...
...have I mentioned recently you are a wonderful human being and I love you because I have this thing where I fail at my own canons? And this will really help me, uh, not do that?
