I've been slowly slogging through David Foster Wallace's magnum opus  Infinite Jest since June 24.  This beast clocks in at 981 pages PLUS 100 pages of endnotes.  You'd think that by this point, September 26, i'd be long finished with it.  I mean, sure, it's a big book but that comes down to a mere 75 pages per week.  However, while i'm not ready ( Read more... )

I haven't finished a book since sometime in early June when i started reading Infinite Jest.  This fact shocks and horrifies me to the point that i'm putting the DFW on hold so i can actually finish a book before the month is out.  I still have over 300 (dense) pages to go in Infinite Jest and i know i won't finish it before the summer is over but ( Read more... )

This morning was baby's first swim lesson!  She totally rocked it, if i do say so myself.  The only hitch is that it's at 9:25 which is the start of morning naptime so she was actually getting tired on the way to the pool.  Once there she perked up and was getting very excited about all the kids and water and noise.  She did great during the lesson ( Read more... )
