Crossfit

I did the Crossfit Workout of the Day yesterday. It kicked my ass. 40 double unders (Jumping rope) 30 Box Jumps and 20 Kettlebell swings, in five sets. By the time we finished dinner my muscles were starting to get sore. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to crawl out of bed this morning but by some miracle I'm not that sore ( Read more... )

Are you doing the Crossfit at a gym? Or did you buy equipment yourself and do it at home? It looks like an awesome workout, and I'm interested in learning more.

I work for a police department and most of the guys here do Crossfit so we have all the equipment in our workout room. Several have been really supportive of me starting the program so they have offered to help me as far as modifying the workouts or helping me make sure my form or technique are correct so I don't end up killing myself.

I'm just starting to learn but is seems like a great program because the workouts are short (but very intense) and varied. The main point of the workouts is to target muscles you use everyday in a way very similar to how they are used (or so I was told). The benfit is that their workouts are easily modified so you can reduce the weight, time or repetitions as you need.

The main Crossfit website posts a new WOD every day and then the Crossfit Brand X forum posts modifications for us newbs. The other nice part of the program is that the main website has a very extensive library of video clips that show most all of their exercises and lists explanations of their abbreviations ( ... )

oh my gosh, I LOVE getting stuff in the mail too. I recently ordered a book and two DvDs but the DvD aren't released yet so I have to wait another month.

Congratulations! Crossfit is so awesome! I read the WOD and think, "That doesn't sound too bad...". Then I try it (halved at half speed) and am wondering where I got the idea I was super-fit. *lol* I'm sure you'll do fantastically at it! I've always thought of you as really fit. :)

I agree, after last nights workout and having watched some of the guys do their workouts I realize they are much harder than they initially seem!

First, your my hero for doing crossfit. Maybe I'll do crossfit when my love affair for all things BeachBody has ended (which will hopefully be never). Mac and I are doing INSANITY, and it's crazy enough. For about 2 weeks before insanity, Mac did crossfit, and that shit looked SERIOUS. I'll just stick with Insanity and then p90X.

And I'm TOTALLY going to look at that Woot site, cause I love that shirt you mentioned (and just might get it for Mac...or myself :o)

I have been reading your posts about INSANITY and it sounds pretty serious, so does p90X. I'm going to have to stick with Crossfit because if I stop I am going to get razzed by about 10 different people :P

The motivation shirt is on their reckoning page. They had no shipping last week so I ended up getting two shirts for me, a shirt for my husband and one for Tony. I guess since I gained self control over eating sweets I lost it over shopping :(

I think the Dinosaur shirt is cute, but today's shirt (Pinball Wizard) is AWESOME (because it's so LOTR :o)

I feel you about keeping with your own program. If I stop Insanity there will be so many people on my case, so now I HAVE to stick with it :o)

Yeah, pinball wizard was pretty cool. I am completely addicted to that website, I check it every morning :)
