Apparently my laptop is dead...or gravely ill...or at least has a head cold right in the section where all its STARTUP information is kept in its memory. Was able to slip in for five minutes once and save important personal files not yet backed up in "Safe Mode" before even that decided not to work anymore. Update on yesterday: Through the wonderfulness of a neighbor (Did you know you can use baking soda and water to dissolve crusted sulfuric acid on a battery terminal? I didn't!)
