My sympathies. I myself had to deal with upgrading to vista (ick) as the seven year old workhouse desktop is sputtering. Sshhh... haven't told it that it's being replaced but I'm sure it knows. :)

Yeah, there are some things that are cool with vista, but some things that I'm still going WTF?! But I've only been at it a few hours. I haven't even futzed with the background pic or anything yet.

(Hey, it allowed me to install my old standby WordPerfect program *shaky fists word* That makes it okay in my book).

I still use my 9 year old desktop...but it's more a glorified word processor. Not good for anything like internet surfing or anything. Hence, the loss of poor laptop was mourned.

Did you manage to get everything moved over eventually? or did you lose a bunch in the process?

(huggles own laptop and tells it not to worry-its death is not imminent)

I haven't fully done a move over, but I was able to retrieve some files off the hard drive before it went kaputz. I think I got most of my important stuff at least.

yes...I just wish I had *time* to play with new toy, but stuff has backed up while I've been wasting time trying to fix old toy/find new toy.

Maybe over the weekend.
