Glimpses of home

I stole these from my sister's blog, they're photos of Mum's garden from last weekend when they held Fer's 40th birthday there. It's only one part of the garden. Isn't it beautiful? This is where Adam and I are planning to have our wedding in a couple of years - same time of year, so this'll be more or less what it'll look like: rose blooming time ( Read more... )

Did I know you were from Australia? Because I don't think I knew you were from Australia. I was here, staring at these pictures from last weekend, going, "Roses? In winter?"

But yes, it is absolutely gorgeous there!

And it's a little thing, but if ever you want warmer climes, I'm in Alabama, and we have the Shakespearian Garden. If nothing else, I can take photos of it when everything is in bloom for you. And it's currently in the seventies, so if it turns out it's cheaper to come to Alabama than go to Australia, and you just have to get away, you'll have a place at my place to warm up.

Yep - from Tasmania, actually.

I don't know whether to be jealous or grateful! ;) The Shakespearian Garden sounds lovely, I'd love to see photos :)

Gorgeous garden!

Hell, those pictures make ME "homesick" for it.

A really long, hot bubble bath always cheers me up when I get the winter blues. :) Hope you feel more chipper soon.

A bath would be nice, but I'd need to clean it first and I hate that job! I should do that this weekend though, a nice long soak would be very soothing :)

Thank you for those beautiful pictures. My garden is suffering. It is bad out there. And this is TX - makes you wonder.
Off topic: reading "Twilight" :)

Is it water problems? I hear Arizona is completely out of water and having to get it from elsewhere (worries me on several levels).

Actually it's both water and weather problems firefred December 22 2008, 23:27:04 UTC
We do have water problems here, although I doubt that they are as severe as those in Arizona. Right now we are having a horrible cold front, combined with dry winds, and that makes for fire hazards all over the place. The paper is full of reports about fires, some accidental, some not. This morning, it was 26 F/-4 C degrees outside, and it has not gotten a lot better. I am wearing two sweaters typing this. It does not compare with the weather in Canada, but this is the south of the US (grumble).

I didn't think you had winter down there :) Bad news about the fires - I know about that, being Australian, though our worst time is summer, when it's completely dry and the grass can just combust all by itself. Not that we don't have our fair share of drongos with cigarette lighters...

The garden is absolutely gorgeous! I have always admired anyone with a garden...and even moreso a garden so full of life and beauty.

Sorry you are having a rough time right now. I felt the same when I lived in Virginia...seeing as how I consider the Midwest to be my home.

*hugs*

Um, so, Virginia is on the ... east coast? Wait, yes, that's right isn't it? It's one of the earliest colonies - gotta get my history straight! What state are you from?
