So who's actually behind this? Is it a radio station trying to drum up business? Or Harper's Tories?

I thought that too at first, thinking 580 CFRA, Canwest Global or Quebecor (the Sun Newspapers) put that out?

NewCap Radio has to be the most apolitial media company around and just like their programming, this viral ad campaign, if that is what it is, sounds much like their DJs, completely airheaded.

"But more likely you're here because something just doesn't feel right to you."

This sentence makes no sense, ever, unless you're doing intake at an STD clinic or recruiting for a cult.

Thank you so much! It's just like the most poorly done thing I've seen by professionals in a LONG time!

I was going to comment with "you're making the poor sophomores cry, audra," but then i got to the part about the radio company. geesh, fail indeed. somebody actually paid for transit ads for this? what's with the dusted up baby doll, anyway?

"South of the border things are not looking good. Even closer to home, you hear news stories about closures and layoffs. But still something just doesn’t quite jive for you. You look around this town and things seem, well, pretty much business as usual really. No mass layoffs. No line ups for bread. No rioting."

...jive???

It's a radio station! Clearly they are saying the problem is Ottawa needs more jive. Right?

And by "jive," they mean "naked baby doll spreading her legs."

As much as I have tried to eliminate linguistic pet peeves from my perspectives on the world, I still grit my teeth when I see "jive" used for "jibe."
