Resignation/Unemployed
I resigned as of 12/31/2008. My company has asked me to come in this week and I asked them to be paid in advance, since that was the defining issue that got me to the point of resignation. A night at the homeless shelter
In an effort to show up slightly better in the world than I actually am, I volunteered to staff a homeless shelter overnight. The experience is an eye-opener. I had dinner with a man who worked for the same company that my partner does and another man who was probably better off than me a week ago. If their stories are true, of course. Recovery Journal
Went to the 10:30AM Sunday OA meeting and it was awesome. I counted at 10:45 and there were 40 people there, 1/4 to 1/3 men. And some of the women who showed up looked very fine indeed - they had definitely dressed to impress someone. Gratitude
I was on my way home from an OA meeting (that's another story all by itself) when a car pulled out in front of me and the driver was acting erratic. I thought she must be drunk (at 12:10 in the afternoon) and debated with myself about whether to call 911 or not. Things Learned
I started the countdown for retirement (partial) today. 7 more working days in this year and with this company. It will be a relief to get away from all the stress, but jumping into the stress of never having enough money ( Read more... ) -
The Four Agreements
Just finished reading 'The Four Agreements' by Don Miguel Ruiz. If only I could life according to those principles. But in small incremental steps, I am trying to move in that direction. Would love to hear the thoughts of others who have read this book. -

Finding Darren
Finally tracked down Blackwingbear by traveling out the East Jesus Parkway for 50 miles or so and taking a right on Bumfuck Blvd. He is alive and almost well having survived being smashed into a tree by his 160 lb mastiff. Happy Birthday Darren
Blackwingbear's birthday is today and he doesn't seem to be online anymore. If anyone out there reading this(I assume there's a least one or two) is in touch with Darren, please tell him that I'm thinking about him. He is one of the finest people I've meet in my 15 years in Atlanta and I hate the we've lost touch (on several levels)
