Harry swallowed as he shut off the glowing monitor. He slouched back in the chair, toeing the cold carpet as he spun the chair in a slow circle. He was going insane. Tipping his head off the back of the black chair, he stared up at the smoothly painted ceiling. It had only been a day, but he was a grown man now, of sorts, a father, also of sorts, and he needed to pull himself back together. This was getting ridiculous.

His eyes began to burn long before he straightened. Harry rubbed at them as he made to stand, and his heart leaped. Strange how something as innocuous as a knock at the door sent his blood rushing back through his freezing body. He stumbled over his pajama bottoms in his haste to get to the door before Teddy could wake up. When he arrived, his cheeks were flushed and his eyes were glassy. Strange, very strange, and then he opened the door.

Remus had been shifting on the doorstep while waiting for a response. He waited all of three seconds before he lost his nerve and was turning to go-- luckily, the door opened just then, and the werewolf turned to face it, bright blue eyes locking onto Harry instantly. His breath caught in his throat and he couldn't think of a single thing to say.. so he only stood there, shivering in the cold, and stared at the older (younger) man in front of him. This was what he'd wanted. He'd come all the way over here in response to two stupid little words, and now he couldn't think of anything to say at all

Oh. Weird. Wonderful, his mind supplied unhelpfully. Brilliant, it tried again, and Harry found himself returning that uncertain stare with one of his own. His chest tightened with his fingers on the doorknob. Reality was very, very weird. He blinked a couple of times until he forced himself to do something. It turned out that something was stepping back and opening the door further to let Remus inside. He wanted him to come inside.

I missed you. Harry let the door shut after Remus and stood there without an iota of confidence radiating from his pose. They were both idiots. Tell me you did too.

"I have your mittens still. If you want them back," Harry whispered. Not simply because he didn't want to wake anyone, but because he couldn't get his voice to go louder.

When Harry opened the door wider, Remus came forward wordlessly, knocking the snow off of his boots out of habit, then stepping inside, arms wound tightly around himself, fingers tucked into fists to protect them from the cold. Once the door closed, the werewolf turned to face Harry again and wet suddenly chapped lips. Slowly, he uncrossed his arms and pressed his hands down over his sides, letting them slide over his hips. It was far too cold for his hands to be clammy, but they felt like they were, regardless

When Sirius woke up in the middle of the night- well, closer to early in the morning, he supposed- the first thing he did was panic. The space beside him was cool and empty, which meant that Remus was not in it. Sirius shot out of bed and searched every room of the house, calling Remus's name, before he finally collapsed onto the couch and forced himself to think this through as calmly as he could manage. Pushing his hands through his hair, he forced several deep breaths into his lungs

Remus had stayed in the livingroom as Harry had gone to see Severus. He'd cleaned up Teddy and had sent him up to his room to grab some toys so they could play in the livingroom together. When the knock came, he went to the door and peeked out the small window, then pulled the door open with a little smile. "Sirius--" He glanced back to the stairs, then moved quietly out of the way so his counterpart could come inside.

"Harry and Severus are talking.. I hope. We should be quiet."

"Quiet my arse! I woke up and you were nowhere to be found! Remus, you scared the piss out of me!" Sirius exclaimed, making a weak, barely successful attempt to keep his voice down as he reached out to clutch Remus's shoulders. "Merlin, don't do that to me! What the bloody hell are you doing here at this hour, anyway?"

"I'm sorry, Sirius. But--" He hesitated, and moved his hands up to grip onto Sirius' biceps as his shoulders were clutched in return. "Harry needed to speak with me. I needed to speak with him." After all, it was about nine in the morning by now.. still quite early for visiting.

Harry's heart lodged in his throat as his mind raced back over the conversation he'd had. Aside from it being one-sided, they'd fought, and--

Were things actually better?

Teddy saw him first, and Harry caught him with one arm and lifted him up high on his hip.

"Were you good?" He asked it to Teddy, before seeking out Remus. Surprised, he took a moment to digest the fact that Sirius was in his home. "Or will you not be getting chocolate milk for lunch?"

Remus turned immediately upon hearing Harry, releasing Sirius' hand slowly as he did. "He was good." Assured with a little smile. "Sirius came by to check on me. He was worried when he woke up and I wasn't there. But he knows I'm alright now." Blue eyes turned back onto his would-be lover, before focusing on Harry again. "Sorry for the intrusion." He apologized for Sirius, of course, because he'd been the one to let the other man in. "But I didn't want to leave Teddy alone to speak outside."

Harry shrugged and waved it off without comment. He really didn't care if Sirius was in his house. It was strange. But he didn't care.

"Harry, Remus made me have a bath." Teddy scowled deeply and pushed at Harry's face when he sniffed experimentally at Teddy's clean smelling cheek. He kissed one of Teddy's hands and then the other until Teddy was squirming and laughing and trying to get back down.

"Naughty, Remus," Harry scolded, finally laughing himself when Teddy shook a firm finger at Remus. "Making Teddy bathe."

"Teddy was lucky that I didn't dress him up in a sailor uniform and make him pose on the beach." He was kidding, of course. He never would. But he would like a few photos.. he didn't have his camera, but he planned on hauling it here with him next time he came by.
